Son of a Soldier is a gripping new book written by author Eddie Williams, a West Point graduate and former U.S. Army Airborne Ranger and Green Beret. This book is about his amazing life and family secrets, describing his struggle to overcome adversity and achieve lofty goals against the odds. If you’ve ever thought you couldn’t accomplish something or wouldn’t amount to anything, you’ll think again after reading his story.
Each week, WatchDOGS Radio host Keith Schumacher and co-host Chris Danenhauer discuss how this program is impacting families and schools across our nation and in three foreign countries.

Staff Sergeant M. David Davis, USA (ret.), is a decorated combat veteran, military advisor & nuclear weapons specialist. He is also a soldier dying within months. Not in the line of duty, but death due to negligence. His death will be as a result of the Veterans Administration doctors who misdiagnosed his illness.
According to SSG Davis, during “the last 10 years, I have been seen by the VA for sores which they gave me antibiotic creams & antibiotics by mouth with never having a biopsy. Last fall, I complained again to the VA & I was told, "Maybe warts or have I ever had HIV." In February, I complained to the VA again and told my VA doctor who refused the records and the civilian doctor’s card to call. The VA doctor said, “I do not want an outside opinion and would not call.” After much complaining about a cyst on the right side of my face the doctor planned to have it taken out.
Two days later I was diagnosed with metastases malignant melanoma, stage 4. Further tests revealed, 6 tumors in left lung, 2 tumors in right lung, tumors in breast, neck and other areas. During my last meeting with the VA Oncologist, he would not offer me chemo or radiation because it would do no good. I asked for referrals to civilian organizations and or experimental treatment. My answer was. “The VA does not do referrals or will help me get into any research at civilian or pay any expenses”
The final result is I am looking for my own burial sites. I was not referred to social services at the VA to help me. So what is the outcome? I fought for my country and my country brings me home to die in its own government sponsored hospitals. If I had been properly diagnosed, referred, and or a simple biopsy performed ten years ago I would not be dying and I would be able to watch my children marry and grandchildren grow.”
You are my Soldier”

Graham Bloem was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and has had an affinity with animals all his life, although his true passion is for dogs. At age five, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada with his family, but enjoyed frequent trips back to South Africa. His experiences in wildlife settings instilled a dream of one day working with animals. From Canada, he immigrated to the United States obtaining US citizenship and he now resides in sunny San Diego, CA with his amazing family (wife Kyrié, two wonderful children, and dogs Lucy and Juno, a Heinz 57-rescue sweetheart and a giant Bernese Mountain Dog).
In 2002 Graham graduated with honors as an Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer (ABCDT).
Over the next ten years, Graham worked as a dog trainer and instructor for a number of shelters, adoption agencies and kennels including his own company West Coast K9. Then, in 2012 Graham started a non-profit “Shelter to Soldier™” (http://specialtydogtraining.com/shelter-to-soldier/), which provides service dogs to military personnel.
The aim is to train service companions for military men and women battling post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and/or other psychological or physical ailments from their service in Iraq, Afghanistan or other active areas. In addition, this program will change the lives of many dogs, rescuing them from their uncertain lives in shelters and instilling in them the meaningful opportunity to become lifetime companions for our struggling service men and women.
