Socialization is the process by which children and adults learn from others. We begin learning from others during the early days of life; and most people continue their social learning all through life (unless some mental or physical disability slows or stops the learning process). -
Who have we learned from for over 400 years? What do we know about ourselves? Who have we been trained to be? Who will our children and grandchildren become.
As Africans, must re-educate ourselves, cast aside the corrupt programming and prepare to properly educate future generations.
Remember, the education of an African child starts in the home.

Today on What's Right About Men - Gender role socialization and the impacts they have on our lives
Join as as we will be discussing gender roles with researcher Laura Burns.
The gender role journey metaphor provides a context for individuals to analyze how gender role socialization has impacted their lives. How have gender roles impacted your life? How have they impacted those around you? How do gender roles impact us all without us even being aware of them?
Laura Burns is a 4th year graduate student at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology currently pursuing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. Her research background started out as working as an undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Dr.Patricia Devine’s lab studying prejudice and intergroup relations. Since starting graduate school, the focus of her research projects has been on gender identity development in children and young adults and also on helping families of gender variant or transgender children. The title of her dissertation (a work in progress) is “The impact of emerging adulthood life events on men’s gender role journey.”

Pool Tables A Great Game For Young And Old
Here are a few facts about billiards, and why it’s a great game for both young and old.
The Perfect Game for Every Skill Level
One of the most rewarding parts of playing a game of pool is the high level of thought that goes into playing well. Regardless of age, it’s easy and fun to play and never fails to challenge every skill level.
Playing Pool Builds Confidence and Self Esteem
Pool rewards precision, patience and forethought, which builds confidence and self-esteem. Learning how to play well takes time, but it’s fun to watch as patience and perseverance pay off.
A friendly game of pool is just the icebreaker many people need to reach out and socialize. Even for amateur players, taking turns or playing “partners” encourages socialization.

In many indigenous cultures, people wear masks during ceremonies to embody the spirit or energy of other beings. But what about the masks we wear? What is it about being ourselves that frightens some people and forces them to wear a mask?
Socialization causes many of us to adjust our persona to fit the group we are in such as families, work groups or churches. We want to be accepted and so the parts of our authentic self that we fear may be rejected get covered up with social masks. This week on Talk-N-Angels, Rita and Mike explore the many ways we use masks and how this masquerade helps and hurts us on our journey.

Jesus asked his followers to dedicate their lives to the regeneration of all humankind, by living and proclaiming a new and higher way of life. In our generation, The Urantia Book asks us to take up this same call. And it provides the guidance we need, in great detail, to begin to address this mission. If we could develop a dynamic evolutionary movement, that powerfully conveyed the spiritual essence of the revelation, in a form that ministered to large numbers of people in varied cultures around the world, what might it look like?
We talked about this on air with Marvin Gawryn recently. He's coming to Boulder, Colorado this Saturday May 2nd, to do a daylong seminar on this topic of socializing our religion. The hosts of the Cosmic Citizen, Paula, Christilyn and Andre, will be attending Marvin's seminar and so we are replaying this show to facilitate our participation.
On this episode, we explored passages in the revelation that project the outlines of such a social spiritual movement, and together we imagined how we might move toward its realization.
Marvin Gawryn has been a student of The Urantia Book for forty-seven years, leading study groups and serving in various capacities in the Urantia Book Fellowship for much of that time. He is retired after thirty years in practice as a family therapist, and currently provides coaching and consulting services part time. He and his wife Francyl live in Boulder City, Nevada, and have two grown daughters and their first grandchild.
If you are interested in Marvin coming to your community to present a similar seminar, you can inquire with him at: email@example.com.
