Frederick Douglass Haynes, III, is a prophetic pastor, passionate leader, social activist, and eloquent orator and educator engaged in preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, fighting against racial injustice; committed to economic justice and empowerment in under-served communities and touching and transforming the lives of the disenfranchised. For 31 years, Dr. Haynes has served as a visionary and innovative senior pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Under his servant leadership, the ministry and membership have grown from less than 100 members in 1983 to over 12,000.
Dr. Haynes was born in Dallas, TX and grew up in San Francisco, California. He is the grandson and son of socially conscious and active pastors. He attended public schools in the Bay Area and was one of three valedictory speakers when he graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco. Haynes graduated, with honors, from Bishop College in 1982 with a B.A. degree in Religion and English. He earned a Masters of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2005, he earned a Doctorate in Ministry from the Graduate Theological Foundation where he was afforded the opportunity to study at Christ Church, Oxford University in Oxford England. His dissertation reflects his commitment to faith based social activism: To Turn The World Upside Down: Church Growth In A Church Committed to Social Justice.
Since Dr. Haynes accepted the call to become Senior Pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church, the church has grown numerically and in ministry to the Dallas community and around the world. Friendship-West has moved three times under the leadership of Haynes in order to accommodate its growth. When Friendship-West moved to its' Kiest location, it moved to a community characterized by crime and violence.

Paul Richmond is an artist, activist, and storyteller. His work often incorporates elements of pop culture, politics, and his own experiences as a gay man. You can see all of his work, purchase some prints and more at http://paulrichmondstudio.com. His latest series, War Paint, explores ideas of identity and masculinity through expressive, figurative paintings of men covering their bodies with paint. He enjoys working with models who have made important or interesting contributions to LGBT culture, and he's painted everyone from Jack Mackenroth to Perez Hilton. Many of the "gaylebrity" models were a part of his Cheesecake Boys series, a gay/male spin on classic pin-up art from the 40's and 50's.
When he's not painting, he is busy with a non-profit organization that he founded with his childhood art teacher called the You Will Rise Project. Their mission to empower young people who have experienced bullying to speak out through the creation of uncensored artworks. He was bullied horribly as a kid and having a creative outlet made all the difference. He does free workshops for young people, a mentorship program connecting college artists with bullied high school students, a special project last spring called Art For Michael in support of an 11 year old boy who attempted suicide after being bullied for his love of My Little Pony, and a new social media photo campaign called #SelfieRespect. Visit: http://youwillriseproject.com.
Him and his husband are involved with the fight for marriage equality as well. They were married a year and a half ago with a group of 24 other LGBT couples who rode a bus to Washington DC and had our ceremony in front of the Supreme Court building just days before DOMA was repealed.
1st hr.-----'Left Turn w/ Stewart Alexander'
2nd hr.----'The Dialogue'
On 'Left Turn with Stewart Alexander', Al Suarez, political commentator and social activist, is back to discuss:
'Ferguson Missouri and the American Police State'.
During this hour, Stewart and Al will discuss the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson. Has there been much change in race relations in the U.S. since the Watts Riots in 1965, the Los Angeles Riots in 1992, or the Tulsa Oklahoma Race Riot in 1921?
Another fascinating topic on 'The Dialogue'

What kinds of experiments are being done on humans to test their group and individual capacity to perceive subtle data? Have scientists proven there is a morphogenic field that we all share? How extensive is this testing and what are they using the results for? You may be surprised!!
Jane Elliott is an American former schoolteacher, recognized most prominently as an anti-racism activist and educator. She is also known as a feminist and LGBT activist. Elliott created the famous "blue-eyed/brown-eyed" exercise, first
done with third-grade school children in the 1960s, which later became the basis for her career in diversity training.
The exercise was conducted the day following Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination. The purpose of the exercise was
to try to teach her students the effects of being a minority. Her exercise, and the subsequent controversy, became the basis for the television documentaries Eye of the Storm (1970) and A Class Divided (1985). Elliott was also recipient of the National Mental Health Association Award for Excellence in Education and many other awards.
Dr. Ron Capps, aka the Nicheprof, talks about social media applications with Ken English.
After weeks of waiting the decision of the Grand Jury comes down...No Indictment. As expected, violence, destruction of property and mayhem erupt across the country.
We will start the morning recapping the events that put this small community into the international spotlight. Is this event a photograph of America 2014? Has this event been milked for the sake of politics, media ratings and/or used as a tool for "race baiting" and division of the country?
President Obama, Al Sharpton and hordes of other politicos, actors and activist take to the airways to put in their two cents...Help or Gas on the Flames?
Special guest Michelle Wiles, politico, candidate, activivist, wife and mother will join us "In the Pickle Barrel". Miles, a mother of six homeschooled children, somehow finds the time to not only "buck the system", but work to do something to create change.
Wiles will share her vision and why she is so involved. Perhaps just as important...how does she find the time!
Hope you will join us this morning at 8AM-10AM EST as we gather "In the Pickle Barrel" in search of a way to get out.
Author of The Pimp-A-Lo Syndrome Teena Harris joins The Woman at the Well, Beverly Black Johnson, to discuss the in's and out's of The Pimp-A-Lo Syndrome.
The “Pimp-A-Lo Syndrome” is a cross between a Pimp and a Gigolo coined by the author, to describe men who have a pimp mentality with gigolo tendencies. The book also addresses women's issues in relation to the roles we play in “Pimp-A-Lo Syndrome.” It basically breaks down the interpersonal and social political conditions of people in emotional turmoil. The Pimp-A-Lo Syndrome… the cross between a Pimp and a Gigalo…Volume 1, is a precursor to Rocked to Sleep Recovery…The Pimp-A-LO Syndrome Book & Workbook Vol. 2.
Teena Harris is a Addictions Specialist, Administrator, Motivational Speaker & LifeCoach.
