SWIV Throwback Thursday - SNL Writer and Comedian Sylvia Traymore Morrison

    in Entertainment

We start our new series "Throwback Thursday" to an interview we did in December 2013.

With Saturday Night Live celebrating it's 40th anniversay, many people may not know the show had an African-American female writer on staff when the show started. Sylvia Traymore Morrison was the first to break barriers on the historic show. She also helped roast "The Greatest of All Time" Muhammad Ali and has opened for legends Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, The Temptations, and Cher.

We talked to Morrison about her time on SNL and working with some of the best talent around.

Eddie on SNL; Obama vs Isil & Geraldo on Hip Hop, Next Afronerd Radio-Wed @7:30

    in Politics Conservative

Welcome to the latest broadcast of Afronerd Radio's Mid Week in Review show featuring Capt. Kirk and Dburt airing this Wednesday at 7:30pm EST.  The current event issues to be extrapolated this (mid) week are: our impressions of the highly anticipated (and ultimately uneventful) return of comedian Eddie Murphy to SNL's 40th anniversay special; during a recent visit to HuffPost Live, FOX correspondent, Geraldo Rivera weighs in on Hip Hop's negative influence on Black and Brown folk; we try our best to bring our best assessment of President Obama's proposal to go to war against ISIS/ISIL.  Can one truly go to war against an idea?; Just how realistic is a human expedition going to Mars reaching fruition within our lifetime?; Awkward Black Girl creator, Issa Rae posits that TV's capitulation to diversity is purely a profit driven exercise; twitter followers show their disdain for an anti-Obama scene in the second episode of FOX's Empire; and lasltly, Dburt laments the passive-aggressive circumstances behind the current cultural climate relating to ageism.  Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.

Victoria Jackson on the SNL 40th Anniversary Controversy

    in Politics Conservative

Victoria Jackson joins me to talk about the controversy surrounding her attendance at last weekends SNL 40th anniversary show. Immediately after the show ended, media outlets were quick to point out that Jackson had been excluded from the show because of her political views. The only problem with that narrative was the fact that Victoria was indeed part of the show. Former member of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force Lt. Steve Rogers will also be here to talk about the latest on ISIS. Of course we'll have all the latest political news as well. Join us Saturday starting at Noon ET, or listen to the archive at your convenience.

The Don Smith Show “where it’s ok to be a conservative,” brings you the most in-depth coverage of all the latest political news. While the liberal media currently dominates the airwaves, now there is an alternative. Listen to The Don Smith Show every Saturday at Noon ET to hear great interviews with people like Ted Nugent, Dinesh D'Souza, Col. Allen West, Charlie Daniels, Gov. Scott Walker, Pat Boone, Chuck Woolery, Ben Shapiro, Jon Voight, Deneen Borelli, NRA President Jim Porter, Victoria Jackson, and many more leading conservatives.

Don Smith is a business executive, and fiscal conservative. As seen on Fox News, CBS, PBS, Next Generation TV, and heard on various syndicated radio broadcasts around the country, “The Don Smith Show” takes the complex issues facing this nation and breaks them down in an easy to understand format. Tune in every Saturday at Noon ET for all the latest political news.

Actress Nasim Pedrad (SNL & FOX's "Mulaney"

    in Entertainment

Tune in for another special edition as I interview actress Nasim Pedrad.  Nasim is best known for her comical skits on Saturday Night Live, where she performed for five seasons.  Some of her memorable impressions were of Kim Kardashian and Arianna Huffington.  Her characters on SNL range from the quirky, parent loving "Bedelia" to underground rocker, "Lil Blaster." Now Nasim can be seen as "Jane" in the new FOX's comedy, "Mulaney," which is played by a former writer of SNL, John Mulaney.  It also stars Oscar Award nominee, Elliott Gound and Emmy Award winner, Martin Short.  Listen in as I interview actress Nasim Pedrad on Friday, October 31 at 11am ET on www.blogtalkradio.com/tammyjones-gibbs.
