    Europe's Imagination: The Trojan Horse of Jihad

    in Current Events

    Just recently, the Islamic State released a map of the areas it plans on expanding into over the next five years.  The map includes European nations such as Portugal, Spain, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Greece, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Romania, Armenia, Georgia, Crete, Cyprus, and parts of Russia. Putin understand this and it MAY be the reason Russia is moving on ISIS now before it gets out of hand like it is in America

    How Studying the Bible Led WNBA Player, Monica Wright, to Faith in Christ

    in Basketball

    Gospel Light Minute #196

    She is a professional basketball player for the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA. She played college basketball at the University of Virginia and was named the ACC Rookie of the Year. As a senior, she was named ACC Player of the Year, ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and National Defensive Player of the Year. She was also selected as a member of the USA Women's U19 team which won the gold medal at the 2007 FIBA U19 World Championship in Slovakia. She has won two WNBA championship titles in 2011 and 2013.

    In an interview with CBN, she talked about her faith in Jesus Christ. As a new college student at UVA, she was focused on playing basketball and making good grades. She said of that time, "I'm a basketball player, so I need to play basketball and do well on the court; I need to make good grades so that I can stay eligible. There was no time to try to figure out  who I was because who I was, was a student-athlete at that time." Besides playing and studying, she also partied and by the time she arrived at her senior year, she began to feel that something was missing in her life. She said, "Once you come to your end you want to make sure that there was probably a little bit more purpose to your journey.  You want to look back and see, 'what did I do? What was my legacy?' I felt like maybe I should be doing something more constructive. There was something missing."

    ...

    Her name is Monica Wright.

    Walking the Woods and the Water: In Patrick Leigh Fermor's footsteps from the Hook of Holland to the Golden Horn:

      In 1933, the eighteen-year-old Patrick Leigh Fermor set out in a pair of hobnailed boots to chance and charm his way across Europe, "like a tramp, a pilgrim, or a wandering scholar." The books he later wrote about this walk, A Time of Gifts, Between the Woods and the Water, and the posthumous The Broken Road are a half-remembered, half-reimagined journey through cultures now extinct, landscapes irrevocably altered by the traumas of the twentieth century.

      Aged eighteen, Nick Hunt read A Time of Gifts and dreamed of following in Fermor's footsteps. In 2011 he began his own "great trudge"—on foot all the way to Istanbul. He walked across eight countries, following two major rivers and crossing three mountain ranges. With only Fermor's books to guide him, he trekked some 2,500 miles through Holland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey.

      His aim? To have an old-fashioned adventure. To slow down and linger in a world where we pass by so much, so fast. To discover for himself what remained of hospitality, kindness to strangers, freedom, wildness, adventure, the mysterious, the unknown, the deeper currents of myth and story that still flow beneath Europe's surface.

    The Heretics' Hour: Hitler and the Slavs, 5

    in Education

    “For the last hundred years Czech historians have endeavoured to make the world believe that Bohemia is of a comparatively recent creation as a German province.” but the fact is “[t]he whole civilization and culture of [Bohemia] can be traced to German sources.” -Czecho-Slovakia Within, 1938

    Carolyn explains how Czech history is very similar to what we've already learned about Polish history.

    The Paris Peace Treaties forcibly annexed German, Hungarian, Ukrainian and Polish territories to a Czech central core, forming CzechoSlovakia;
    The majority Czechs took a criminal and genocidal attitude toward the minorities;
    It took 18 years for the situation to gain the serious attention of the European Powers who created the mess in the first place;
    Adolf Hitler finally broke through the dilly-dallying with the Munich Agreement;
    Post-WW2 history gives a slanted picture of the end of this illegitimate state to make Hitler out to be an aggressor rather than a savior and restorer.
