SORT BY Relevancy
Join Brandi Medeina tonight as she sits in for Dru and discusses a potential solution for out of control legislators. What do you see where you live? Is you local government standing up to the lawmakers who would erode your rights? Tonight we chat about counties and municipalities rising up and saying "NO, we will NOT enforce any unjust laws". Maybe it's a resolution, an intiative, a measure. What does your county sheriff believe? He/she is the highest law enforcer in the land. Also on the lineup, I want to hear your views on Utah's land reclamation, and the State Of Jefferson. Will the feds just let a new state be born? How do we circumvent negative responses? How do we garner support? Is revolution the only way?

If you suffer from Slave Mentality, your mindset can't be repaired overnight; in order to reverse the damage, it will take time to reprogram your mind, but it can be done. You cannot be victorious and have a succesful, positive life if you have a victim mentality. Of course you will encounter difficulties and hardships in life, but the answer is not blaming others; the answer is taking responsibility for your actions or creating a solution (or finding others who can help you) even if you're not at fault. How can we reclaim our identity? What can we do to abandon tthe beliefs of this mindset?

Before American slavery abolition, the total slave population south of the Mason-Dixon line was somewhere in the likes of FOUR MILLION predominately black people. The US government instituted chattel slavery and made BILLIONS OF DOLLARS from free slave labor. The tactics used by slave owners left Black Americans and other minorities stripped of their native tongues, religion and culture. We killed if we became literate and were taught to hate each other simply because of skin complexion.
Today, Black Americans are subjected to a NEW form of slavery. Many feel that the effects of slavery in the 18th and 19th century are still felt today. We were slaves then and we are slaves now; just this time it seems irreversible, right? Or are blacks in a much better position? Have we gained strides in America? This episode, we discuss the effects of slavery on Black Americans today, if any.

This is a black arts and culture site. We will be exploring the African Diaspora via the writing, performance, both musical and theatrical (film and stage), as well as the visual arts of Africans in the Diaspora and those influenced by these aesthetic forms of expression. I am interested in the political and social ramifications of art on society, specifically movements supported by these artists and their forebearers. It is my claim that the artists are the true revolutionaries, their work honest and filled with raw unedited passion. They are our true heroes. Ashay!

For well over 300 years, European countries forced Africans onto slave ships and transported them across the Atlantic Ocean.
The first European nation to engage in the Transatlantic Slave Trade was Portugal in the mid to late 1400's. Captain John Hawkins made the first known English slaving voyage to Africa, in 1562, in the reign of Elizabeth 1. Hawkins made three such journeys over a period of six years. He captured over 1200 Africans and sold them as goods in the Spanish colonies in the Americas. But there is more to this complex story join us as we dialogue on this subject and much more
