Happy Inspirational Monday to you! The Erica Q. Cooper Show will discuss Being A Single Parent. Our guest today is Shirelle Brown. Shirelle Brown is a part-time freelance writer and a full-time mother, and is currently employed as a full-time government employee, who was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. She spends most of her down time reading and people watching, which is what led her to pursue her dreams of becoming a psychologist in which so far she has earned a BS in Psychology from the University of Phoenix. However, since discovering so many other passions, such as Philanthropy, she plans to start a non-profit organization that caters to hard working single mothers like herself who are striving for greatness but just needs a little help when times get hard, or nudge of encouragement in order to keep moving forward, or education on how to go against all odds and properly raise a child in today’s society. Shirelle has always had an embedded passion for writing ever since the 5th grade where she won an oratory contest and has a plethora of poems and short stories that she’s written over the years. Thanks to her daughter’s passion of writing, who also went on to win an oratory contest at her school, Shirelle decided to resurrect those old passions by finishing her book and publishing it to make another deferred dream a new reality and just so her children will witness first hand that anything is possible when you believe and it is never too late to achieve your dreams. This eBook, The Single Mother (Stress Less and Thrive) is scheduled to be bound and printed by the Fall of 2014 in which a book signing event will be announced. Be sure to befriend Shirelle on Facebook, LinkedIn or follow her on Twitter to stay updated on her latest book releases and events. Also stay tuned for the release of her new eBook that will be complete by Winter 2014.
We believe all single parents have the right to a decent job – one that allows them to balance their childcare responsibilities and provide for their families. By taking a realistic set of actions, government and employers can make that a reality. It's an easy trap to fall into. When your child reaches for something he wants, you respond with the words, "We can't afford that." Did you ever think this could send a negative indictment on God, the one who supposedly supplies all of our needs? Yet if you're a single parent and struggling to make ends meet each month, you may often wonder if, indeed, God has left you to fend for yourself.
"First of all, realize that you can make it on one income,". "But it involves planning. You have to know what your needs are, then you'll know how to pray." In addition to prayer, start writing everything down relating to finances, from income and spending to debts and future goals. 'It's not that you don't have enough money. God always gives us what we need. It's rather that item doesn't fit into our goals.'"
Secondly, forgive yourself. "Many single [parents] think that their financial struggles are a result of something they did wrong. If they did sin, repent and move on. Forgive yourself.'" Current financial struggles are what they are—an opportunity to regroup and reorganize the budget. Yes, the weight of carrying the burden for the family can be overwhelming.

Are parents who aren't married influencing people who want to get married to remain single?
Many people who think about having children want to get married. It's the traditional way of raising a family, it often eases the pain of managing finances, children are said to be better adjusted in a household where there are two married parents and the fit into society seems to be a good one for married people.
Many parents who are not married make ways to make a decent living and provide for their children financially, emotionally and educationally. Some fair better than their married counterparts.
Some single parents are eligible for assistance programs such as grants to send their children to private schools. This can be the case even if they make a decent wage. Is that fair to married couples?
What are some things that single parents benefit from that married parents might not get?
What about the stigma of having multiple children by different moms or dads? Why do some find it easier to deal with this stigma than others do?
With so many single parents in our communities nowadays, is being a single parent a big deal anymore or has it become something that we've come to expect and accept?
There are many people who refuse to have children without being married and others who refuse to date anyone who has kids. Is that right?
Is being married a badge of honor?
Is being a single parent unacceptable?
All my single parents should come out for this one whether you like being single or not because this one is gonna be hot! Tell your story and how you feel.
