From Susie: We are Go Girl Media, & as writers & producers, my partner, Don Priess, & I, Susie Singer Carter, consider ourselves fortunate to have worked on a variety of television & film projects & collaborate with wonderfully talented people like (and here comes the "name dropping/hoping to impress you" part) Bryan Cranston, Jon Voight, Shia LaBeouf, Helen Hunt, Dennis Quaid, Max Brooks & Kenan Thompson, to name a few.
THE WHAT: MY MOM AND THE GIRL is a true story based on an odd encounter my East Coast mother, who suffers with Alzheimer's, shared one evening on the streets of East L.A. The story takes off after dinner with family & friends takes a dark turn and my mother is led to a proverbial crossroads where 3 very disparate, desperate women are unpredictably pulled back into the light. It's a funny, poignant and surprisingly rich story where apparent disabilities can be seen as gifts.
THE WHY: A few years ago my 82-yr-old mother and love of my life, Norma Holzer, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease &, as for so many families in America, ours was thrown into a nightmare of fear, guilt, obligation & confusion. I discovered that most people are afraid to face, let alone embrace, a situation as abhorrent as Alzheimer's, & as a result, I was my mom's designated - make that only - caregiver. Awful, right? Well, not exactly... Even though my mother’s decline has been devastating, by embracing it, I have received countless unexpected gifts of insight, understanding & joy filled with humor, music & a whole lot of love. This led me to think, "I DO need to film this story!" And so I am!" Support Susie's Campaign at: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/my-mom-and-the-girl--2#/
First Show in Almost 2 Months, with the Return of the co host from Europe, We have an International Topic for the New Year
An important Shia cleric was executed by the Saudi crown, in retaliation protesters burned the Saudi embassy in Tehran, and the Saudi ambassador in Iran was recalled. Also the Saudis as part of their attack on the Houthis in Yemen, Iranian allies, bombed the Iranian embassy in Yemen. As tensions rise, who is to win from this conflict? What is the role mof the US? Andrea & Al from Vanguard Youth Radio will discuss these issues. We hope to have time for callers.
The growing conflict between Sunnis and Shias spread to Asia as a Pakistani general threatened to wipe Iran off the map if any harm comes to Saudi Arabia. This was a not very subtle threat to use nuclear weapons.
Also: North Korean nuke might have been designed as an EMP weapon, stocks off to horrible start in 2016, global shipping rates drop to historic lows, and Germans outraged by government coverup of New Year's Eve sexual assault by migrants.
The rising hostility between Sunni and Shia Muslims in the Middle East makes a map of their distribution throughout the Islamic world very important to understanding what may happen in the next few months.
Also: A looming radiological disaster in Saint Louis; massive natural gas leak near Los Angeles; and Google is data mining schoolchildren.
The Vatican's formal recognition of Palestine went into effect on New Year's Day. The Roman Catholic Church has wanted control of Christian sites--and possibly all of Jerusalem's Old City--for decades.
Also: The Pentagon does an end run around the White House on Syria, Saudi Arabia severs ties with Iran, and armed militiamen take over a wildlife refuge in Oregon.

The world is experiencing a mass shift in refugees from Syria in which 6.5 million have already been displaced. They have traveled as far as Sweden. Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan & Iraq. The 2nd wave of refugees are going into Germany and Austria after being rejected by Hungary. Europe has already become a new melting pot over the last 20 years but the question remains,: a minority Alawite government under Bashar al Assad is killing droves of Muslims and they are being re routed to Christian and religiously benign countries. European attendance at church is pale in comparison to Muslim devotion. Will all these cultural shifts and religious changes cause a major or permanent difference? Tune in.
