Join The Joshua Generation Network this week as we talk about single Black women and motherhood/parenthood.
We know that "baby daddy"' was a creation of white America and that integration, in and of itself, has devastated Black families and especially Black women across America.
Are you a single Black woman, whether by widowhood, divorce, choice, or "just because"? If so, what do you think about how American living has redefined Black womanhood, Black fatherhood, and the Black family through the "Plantation Picaninny" and "Mister" model of America's antiquated Jim Crow Society.
How have white people's attitudes and their televised and musical "plantation ownership" filth about us caused damage and harm to us, socially, morally, and psychologically? How should we answer this in the days, months, and years to come?
Where are American Black men in the lives of single Black women/mothers, whether the "fathers" of these children are deceased, disabled, or missing in action, i.e., have opted, like their white forefathers did, to abandon their Black families?

"Make no mistake," Barack Obama instigated the Latin American invasion of the United States - and a new White House decree will force U.S. municipalities to house them; John Kerry gets sick of eating crow on the Sunday shows and vomits his anti-Israel frustrations near Chris Wallace's open mic; and "The Putin Games" roll guffawingly on.
With the release of her seventh full-length album and a brand new endorsement deal with Two Old Hippies, who worked with Breedlove Guitars to build her a new custom-made guitar, Katie Garibaldi has proven herself to be an artist with undeniable talent and lasting appeal. Based in the golden city of San Francisco, this determined and enthusiastic singer/songwriter/guitarist is an avid national touring performer who has amassed a devoted fan base, due in large part to her engaging live shows and a personal connection to her listeners through her music. Katie sings with an emotional resonance that, combined with her catchy melodic songs and her soulfully expressive vocals, captures her audience wherever she performs. While she’s been compared to household names such as Sheryl Crow, Jewel, and Taylor Swift, Katie has a charismatic musical style all her own wherein her equally pop- and country-tinged folk-rock gives her a distinct and edgy sound—Americana with sparkling and memorable melodies.
As one of Bette Midler’s infamous and legendary Harlettes for nearly a decade, Melanie Taylor has been seen twirling and singing on the Emmy Award-Winning HBO Special Diva Las Vegas, as well as a 6-week sold-out engagement at Radio City Music Hall, and in a millennium photo essay in Rolling Stone magazine. Melanie has been a featured vocalist on tours, TV, and shared the stage with such artists as John Mayer, Barry Manilow, Stevie Wonder, Sarah McLachlan to Aerosmith’s Summer Tour 2012.
Melanie’s notable television credits as a vocalist and/or actor include Parenthood, The Voice, The Emmy Awards, American Music Awards, The 66th Oscars Governor’s Ball, MTV, American Idol, VH1, Jay Leno, David Letterman, Oprah, American Bandstand, Ally McBeal, The Guardian, Boston Public, Jag, and HBO’s Taxicab Confessions.
Born in New Orleans on New Year’s Day to a classical pianist mother and a family of artists, Melanie Taylor’s rich, eclectic musical heritage has helped guide and define her own artistry ever since. She is inspired by such diverse and unique artists as Joni Mitchell, Billie Holiday, Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Donny Hathaway, and the poetry and writing of e.e. cummings, Pablo Neruda, Stephen King and Toni Morrison.
Besides touring with Aerosmith, John Mayer, Barry Manilow, Melanie has discovered many musical journeys with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Ashford and Simpson, Billy Preston, Chris Botti, Bette Midler, Barbara Streisand, Ray Charles, Elton John, Billy Joel, Sheryl Crow, Michael McDonald, Jackson Browne, Sarah McLachlan, Tears for Fears, David Foster, Donna Summer, Michael Bolton, Patti LaBelle, Ronnie Spector, Jeffrey Osborne, Brian Wilson, Jim Belushi, Sheena Easton, Paula Abdul, Carole Bayer Sager, Dave Koz, Willie Nelson and Deepak Chopra.
We all have seen videos of police brutality. But none is more prevalent than the video footage of officers killing Black males/men. What I've found to be just as shocking is the reaction of the bystanders and those casually recording saying things like, "All he did was break up a fight, he bleeding, they doing the brother wrong." And all sorts of sideline comments of that nature.
Now what they aren't doing is confronting the officers and questioning (them) on the Gestapo tactics of their conduct, or stepping in to make a citizens arrest on civil servants they see breaking the law claiming they are enforcing it.
Since when is murder a crime for every other citizen but not Law Enforcement themselves? Not only do those who (record) not intervene, they dont even bother to get on their cell phones and dial 911 to make a formal complaint against the officers they clearly see are going way to far. Now that to me is most disturbing.
The lack of appropiate action on the part of AMERICAN CITIZENS when we see those we PAY to enforce our laws breaking the law themselves. A man begging for his life or telling them with what little life he has left that he cant breath, over and over again and yet a gang of them in true Nazi fashion takes his life anyway.
Right in front of witnessess.
OMG!!! We are literally doing the remix of Jim Crow. I give my 9MIND perspective on why I think Black Americans are repeating the history of our Ancestors and why it is that Black men of all men or seen as Souless and Godless in the eyes of men of EurAsian white ancestry.
