Medicine Theater: Unleash Your Creative Spirit

    in Current Events

Medicine Improv is a very physical form of creative expression. We draw on elements of play, improvisation, free-writing, music, meditation, Yoga, intention setting dance, ensemble building techniques, character and story creation, as well as movement exercises as a way of discovering the story that wants to emerge. This is a safe, open ended space where we are invited to awaken our creative being and come back to a natural sense of play, allowing for a story to emerge almost as if by accident. We use a variety of methods ranging from over the top comedic physical expression to more vulnerable internal heart/mind/body exploration as a way to find that depth of story together.

Developed by Asher Lyons, Medicine Theater bridges it's own unique physical style of play along with exercises and games first developed by Viola Spolin, (the internationally recognized originator of Chicago's The Second City Improv). Medicine Theater draws on elements of improv, ensemble building techniques, character and story creation, intention setting, meditation, and Yoga in order to liberate our body, tap into our intuitive knowing, and awaken our creative play which is our birthright; giving a voice back to the parts of us that have been voiceless.

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1270

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Tara Walker Lyons from Montana an abuse survivor who's now an advocate for the prevention of Childhood Sexual Abuse. "As a result of making my story public, I have since become a speaker about this issue, traveling the State of Montana to share my platform and information on addressing CSA," Tara resides in Hamilton, Montana, on the family's cattle ranch. Born on the Blackfeet Reservation, she is a young Pikuni Blackfeet woman who is using her outspoken voice and adverse childhood experiences to advocate for the awareness and prevention of childhood sexual abuse. Her presentations describe the complexities of childhood sexual abuse, the dark aftermath that unfolds in the life of a victim and demonstrates the victory that is shared when justice, understanding and healing has begun. Tara hopes to prompt legislative changes to address the need for education on the issue within our schools. She has been published in many newspapers for her efforts and her momentum keeps growing. She was nominated for the 2015 Ravalli County Courage Award and continues to speak for the Montana Department of Corrections. She graduated from Beaverhead County High School in Dillon and went on to attend college at the University of Alaska Anchorage. She is an avid horsewoman and a rider for the 2015 State Champions: The Bitterroot Mountettes Equestrian Drill Team. Tara explains, "Back in July, I posted a status about an issue that affects 1/10 children before the age of 18: Childhood Sexual Assault." Then she "outted" a local pedophile which rallied to her the support of many others. It was a result of making her story public that she since become a speaker about this issue.

    Saint Jean-François-Régis Clet

    in Religion

Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org

Tenth of fifteen children; his father was a farmer and merchant, and the boy was named after Saint John Francis Regis. He was raised in a pious family; one brother became a priest, one sister a nun. Studied at the Jesuit Royal College at Grenoble, France. Joined the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians) in Lyons, France on 6 March 1769, making his final vows in 1771. Ordained in 1773. Professor of moral theology at the Vincentian seminary in Annecy, France. Nicknamed “the walking library” due to his encyclopedic knowledge. Rector of Annecy in 1786. Director of novices in Paris in 1788. Director of the internal seminary at mother-house of the Congregation of the Lazarists in Paris, France. His community was disbanded, and their house destroyed by the French Revolutionists. Missionary to China in 1791. Assigned to Kiang-si in October 1792, the only European in the area; in 28 years of work, he never mastered the language. In 1793 Clet moved to Hou-Kouang in the Hopei Province where he served as superior of an international group of Vincentian missioners scattered over a very large territory; his pastoral area covered 270,000 square miles. In 1811 government anti–Christian persecutions intensified; the missionaries were accused of inciting rebellion, and had to pursue their work while on the run, often hiding in the mountains. On 16 June 1819, with a bounty on his head, Francis was betrayed by a Christian schoolmaster whose behavior the missionary had tried to correct. Force marched hundreds of miles in chains to trial. On 1 January 1820 he was found guilty of deceiving the Chinese people by preaching Christianity.
