The Zion Da Fro Show "real teen talk from a real teen perspective."
#Gottoknow: Teen Diaries is a non profit organization that empowers teen girls through career developement and fitness. Teen Diaries was here in Atlanta this past weekend celebrating their 3rd year of "Pretty Girls Sweat" movement. Over 100 girls were in the building exercising with Grammy nominated Keri Hilson and hip hop female group OMG. They encouraged the girls to exercise and talked about the importance of eating right.
Talk It Up: SOG not just men of valor. Rap once again has a new face. This is not your typical urban group. I got an opportunity to see SOG for the first time at the Apache Cafe. If you can imagine, these guys had on camos and dog tags when they hit the stage. Everybody was looking around just to see what these dudes were about to do. Suddenly the beat dropped and SOG shut it down. OMG ...for SOG

MA is not CA, but this elwection at least, we get a plethora of ballot questions. In our case, the excess is four votes that qualified for Nov. 4th.
Tune in for truth and knowledge (at least in our best cuts).
Three questions have roaring proponents and opponents. Legally granting earned sick time for employees is not so controversial; in fact, doing that seems like enacting child-labor laws. The others are hot.
Question 1 is in the Taxachusetts fantasy world. It would stop the law that index gas taxes to inflation. The don't-tax-me-bro crowd really wants this.
Questino 2 would expand our low-rent nickel bottle depost to include non-carbonated water and such. The veberage folk predict the end of the world if that passes.
Question 3 would prohibit casinos in the commonwealth. The gaming (a.k.a gambl;ing) commission just awarded a license for one of three. The drama continues.
The airways are clogged. Mailers clutter doors and slots. Rhktoric is sizzling. You might not be surprised to learn that we have opinions.
The Keystone pipeline and hydraulic fracturing (fracking) are often in the news. Most of us could use more information about the importance of the oil and gas industry to America. Please join Maxine and Jeannie as they talk with energy expertMarita Noon, known as "America's voice for energy." Help us get the word out. Invite others to listen in as this all important matter is discussed responsibly. Marita's twentieth book, Energy Freedom, is her first in the current affairs genre. www.energymakesamericagreat.org.

In her heart wrenching recounting of the day that forever changed her life, Arielle Gooden shares with us her story of strength, love and determination. No one can recall it better than her, Arielle writes...
On October 4, 2012, I was hit by a train. I don’t remember that day at all, but according to the police officer who spoke with my Mom, I was drug 129 feet (by the train), then my vehicle went airborne for 10 feet - began spewing gas, caught on fire, and dropped in a pool of gas. I was STILL IN MY VEHICLE! I was cut out of my RAV4 by the jaws of life and airlifted to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, where I had brain surgery (I had a deep head laceration and my brain was bleeding and wouldn’t stop). My spine was cracked, liver lacerated, tail bone and clavicle broken, and my pelvis was fractured...
This is her story.
It is a well-known fact that smoking reduces fitness. It does this in a number of ways, chiefly by reducing the amount of oxygen available in the body. Since oxygen plays a major role in energy production, even a minor depletion has an impact on physical performance.
MAJOR EFFECTS OF SMOKING ON FITNESS
David Pyne, an Australian sports physiologist, lists the major effects of smoking on the body's respiratory and circulatory system as follows:
High levels of carbon monoxide from smoking reduce the amount of oxygen absorbed into the blood from the lungs.
Carbon monoxide in the blood also reduces the amount of oxygen that is released from the blood into the muscles.
Smoke inhalation has an immediate effect on respiration, increasing airways resistance and therefore reducing the amount of oxygen absorbed into the blood.
Smoking causes chronic (or long-term) swelling of mucous membranes, which also leads to increased airways resistance.
Smoking increases the heart rate for a given level of exercise.
CARBON MONOXIDE - THE MAIN OFFENDER
Carbon monoxide, the same lethal gas which is released by motor vehicle exhausts, is present in cigarette smoke and is absorbed rapidly into the bloodstream.
Listen as we discuss what's happening in the world from our unique, informed and opposing perspectives; call in and let's see who gets The Final Word on BlogTalkRadio.com on Sunday night at 5pm (PST) 8pm (EST).
Right-wing media are claiming that a Republican "War on Women" is phony and invented by the left to distract attention from issues such as the economy and gas prices, but Republicans throughout the country have indeed pushed a plethora of legislation during the past few years that would result in limiting women's reproductive rights, access to health care access, and access to equal pay. Is this an excuse to introduce a more fundamentalist religious way of life into every aspect of our society? Have the GOP Republicans becomes America's version of the taliban, determined to set women back 100 years and back in her "place?" Is this "War on Women" real and how can we fight political ideology? Tonight we welcome both sides of the debate as open this discussion.
