After highlighting other successful role models Sergio makes a pause to share with us, the latest on his ongoing struggle to become a California licensed attorney. Sergio graduated law school on May 9, 2009 and passed the California bar on his first attempt that same year. However, due to his lack of immigration status he has been unable to practice law. He now awaits for the California Supreme Court to rule and what is set to be a historic landmark decision. In spite of his struggles Sergio has not sat idly while waiting, he has traveled extensively throughout the nation motivating our youth and forging strong political alliances in preparation for a life in politics. He has been interviewed by the press worldwide and his interviews are now in French, English, German and Spanish. He has been a panel expert for many different organizations discussing his case and has been published by the Huffington Post, California Lawyer Magazine and Los Angeles Lawyer. Furthermore, he has become very familiar with deferred action helping many young people who qualify for the President's program even though he does not. After so much work Mr. Garcia is finally starting to reap the benefits of what he sowed and will be honored on March 7, 2013 in San Francisco for his life's work.

Our guest this morning is Joselito Garcia-Ruiz, Regional Disaster Program Officer for the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region.
Joselito is responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of disaster preparedness, response and recovery activities for the 272 communities served by the Red Cross Los Angeles Region.
Prior to joining the L.A. Region in May 2014, Joselito served as the RDPO for the Red Cross Raleigh/Durham Region in North Carolina and on the American Red Cross Disaster National Advisory Council.
With more than 20 years of professional Red Cross national and international disaster management experience, Joselito has worked in various Red Cross disaster service capacities in Texas, Puerto Rico and Massachusetts. Internationally, he has worked in El Salvador and Zimbabwe.
Joselito was born in New York and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He received his Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. He obtained an Associate’s Degree in Emergency Medical Technology from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus and a Bachelor’s in Health Service Administration.
