This discussion will address concerns and pressing issues for completing publications for the Senior Writers Group. We will also meet Larry Stumbo who is over the upcoming Iowa Authors Fest. He explain the goals and how authors can benefit and get involved.
Do you feel like you need to BEG your partner, your parents or your providers for things you want?
Some people may be financially dependent, but the relationship should not create a posture of begging on your part. A respectful relationship built on love can be negotiated to where you feel heard and free to ask for your wants without a sense of fear, or the need to beg.
This show is delivered in 2 PARTS. This is Part1. Please head over to www.TrudyBeerman.com and login (membership is free) to hear Part 2.
Financial Independence is a dream for most adults, but graduates, under-employed wives, the disabled, and senior citizens have the greatest displacement from this reality unless they take strategic action. Understand the cost of not stepping into your power and allowing your dependency to be treated in a less than respectable fashion.
Well meaning family members who control the wallet, may have you doing an uncomfortable dance every time you have a legitimate need. In Part 2, I show you HOW and I offer 10 strategies for effectively making that switch and earning more as a result. I guarantee life will be more pleasant for you if you follow those 10 strategies.

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. Many people spend more time planning their vacation than their life.Your life plan should cover your vision and your personal, professional, and self-development priorities and goals. It doesn’t matter whether you are 20 or 65 a life plan is key to living your best life now with intention and purpose. Regard your life plan as a work in process. Don’t shoot for perfect—that day will never come. it is a living document. You will revise it as necessary, always fine-tuning, always tweaking. Realign your priorities as needed. Earlier in my life, my children were a high priority. Friends were a lower priority. Community service wasn’t even on the list. Now that has changed. This is natural. You have to adjust your priorities as circumstances change. Be flexible—while remaining true to your values. Review your life often. It is not a document you finish and then file away. The key to implementation is visibility. You must review your life plan on a regular basis. Revise your life plan quarterly. Plans are only useful if they are relevant. Your circumstances can change quickly. Your action plans must shift accordingly. That’s why I recommend getting away for a half-day to day-and-a-half on a quarterly basis. Use part of this time to review your life plan and revise it. We refer to this as the Reflect and Refine Stage of the 4r program. Call TransformativeLifeSolutions today at 888.848.7406.

We are a Forever Foster home based sanctuary currently housing 30 senior dogs at the sanctuary with 33 more in forever foster homes. We are located in Mount Juliet Tennessee, just east of Nashville. We Celebrate Senior Dogs and provide them loving, lifetime retirement homes. We are an all volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Our mission is:
To provide a loving home, good food, high quality vet care, compassion and comfort to senior dogs for the remainder of their lives.
To build a ForeverFoster Home network to enable us to place more senior dogs in loving, home settings for the duration of their lives.
To provide education on the joys and challenges of caring for aging dogs.
To work with other dog rescue groups to promote the adoption of senior dogs.
While providing a lifetime home for senior dogs, OFSDS strives to raise awareness of the joys and challenges of living with aging dogs. While never forgetting where these dogs have come from, we want to emphasize the positive aspects of their life in retirement.
We do not concern ourselves with the quantity of time that they have left, rather the quality of the life that we can provide them for that time.
This friday from 10am to 3pm we will be hosting our annual Senior Pride Day at Boom Island (724 Sibley Ave NE)! So with that coming up we will be holding our show about Senior Citizens and how they are important to our community.

LIFELINE with Cindy Sommer is all about EMPOWERMENT. Empower your heart. Empower your mind. Empower your life.
TONIGHT'S SHOW: Help us start the most important conversation we may ever have as Cindy Sommer welcomes Troy Johnson, LCSW, Founder and Director of The Senior Pride Initiative based in Lexington, KY.
Troy Johnson is a Licensed Master Social Worker, and works as a mental health therapist in the south. Troy's dedication to helping others improve their place in life extends from direct practice to broad advocacy. Troy’s dedication to helping others live with purpose and dignity is a central motivator in his work with the Senior Pride Initiative (SPI). SPI is a natural extension of his history of success in expanding advocacy services based on an ever growing and changing demographic of the aging population. This includes collaborating with the National Resource Center on LGBT Aging to provide cultural competency training to the Nursing Home Ombudsman staff in Lexington, KY, and working in partnership with local aging service providers to host Kentucky’s first conference dedicated to LGBTQ aging in 2013.
Troy is the former Director of Programs and Services for the Nursing Home Ombudsman Agency, and recent Chair of the Bluegrass Elder Abuse Prevention Council. He holds professional memberships in the National Association of Social Workers and the American Society on Aging, and is a sought after speaker on topics related to LGBTQ seniors, elder abuse, and program development.
Raising a blended family comes with its share of hurdles. In the United States, approximately one-third of all households are blended. With patience and a optimistic outlook, the blended family can be one filled with affection, respect, and appreciation.
It isn’t easy for the children when parents remarry. They are trapped in the middle of a situation that can cause immediate feelings of frustration and sadness.
It can be particularly hard to find the right balance when you’re a stepparent. Many adults try to blend their families with high expectations. Many think it will be similar to their previous marriage in terms of time spent with their spouse and the attentiveness they’ll be able to give the relationship. Unfortunately, this may not match your reality.
Every family has a different dynamic. The trick to making a blended family work is finding a new, combined dynamic that includes time spent together, discipline, and rules BOTH parties can live with.
Let’s look at 7 tips for creating a great blended family.
