Like many popular leading men of Hollywood’s heyday, Garner boasted all-American good looks and a winning personality that carried him through comedy and drama alike. Garner won two Emmys and racked up a total of 15 nominations. He had his greatest impact in television, first on “Maverick” in the ’50s and then in the ’70s on “The Rockford Files,” for which he won an Emmy in 1977 Variety

Garner was born James Bumgarner but changed his name for Hollywood. His relatives say the name was the only thing that changed.
“As much as people liked what they saw of him on television and in the movies, I think they’d like him even better if they would’ve known him in person,” said nephew, Terry Bumgarner. Norman Transcript

A special broadcast this week on CBR Radio as we go off topic for this very special night of America’s history. We step back into the past and focus our attention on America’s Unknown Fairy Godmother: Phoebe Elizabeth Apperson Hearst .We discuss her life and her achievements and contributions she left behind to her fellow Americans to benefit from nearly 100 years later. My special guest Karin Harris highlights the footsteps of Phoebe Hearst her triumphs and her tribulations and the quiet legacy she left behind.
Phoebe Elizabeth Apperson at the age of 19, she married George Hearst, who later became a U.S. Senator. Soon after their marriage on June 15, 1862, the couple moved to San Francisco,California, where Phoebe gave birth to their only child, William Randolph Hearst, on April 29, 1863. Upon George’s death on February 28, 1891, her wealth was estimated at $250 million, a staggering sum in those days. Singer/songwriter/actor Keith Robinson was born in Kentucky, where he discovered his love of the arts at a young age. Singing took center stage in high school in Augusta, Georgia, and he was signed to a contract while attending the University of Georgia. Robinson was picked up by Motown Records and went on to perform with several top artists.
To put his career in high gear, Robinson decided to make a transition and move out to Los Angeles to further his singing career and try his hand at his other love, acting. His very first audition landed him the role of Joel Rawlings, the Green Ranger.
Keith was featured in the role of C.C. White, in the Hit "Dreamgirls", opposite Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé Knowles, Eddie Murphy, Danny Glover, Jennifer Hudson, Anika Noni Rose, and Sharon Leal in Bill Condon's Academy Award-winning film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. His most recent feature film is the holiday-themed "This Christmas", where he is part of an ensemble cast that also includes Loretta Devine, Delroy Lindo, Idris Elba, Regina King and Chris Brown.
And August 1, 2014, Keith will be apart of the long awaited James Brown biopic, "Get On Up". Keith will be playing the role of Baby Roy, an original member of James Brown’s band. When Robinson is not on set, he's in the recording studio working on his album and music for major motion pictures and television. Before 9/11 America was protected by a covert force known as the National Crisis Management Center. Commonly known as Op-Center, this silent, secret mantel guarded the American people and protected the country from enemies. The charter was top secret and Director Paul Hood reported directly to the president. Op-Center used undercover operatives with SWAT capabilities to diffuse crises around the world, and they were tops in their field. But after the World Trade Center disaster, in the interest of streamlining, OP-Center was disbanded—leaving the country in terrible danger.
