Arizona Senator John McCain
Republican Weekly Address: Memorial Day, Veterans and Our Military
“Our veterans gave us their best. But it’s obvious that too often they’ve gotten the worst from those charged with their care. Our country doesn’t depend on the heroism of every citizen. But we must be worthy of the sacrifices that are made on our behalf. How we care for those who risked everything for us is the most important test of a nation’s character. Today, we are failing that test. We must do better tomorrow – much better.

John W. Campbell wrote a Novella entitled "Who Goes There?" which included the short story of the same name first published under his pseudonym Don A. Stuart in Astounding Science-Fiction magazine, which now goes under the name Analog Science Fiction. It is one of the longest running Science Fiction Magazines in circulation since 1930. This little story "Who Goes There" "...was voted one of the finiest science fiction novellas ever written" in 1973 by the Science Fiction Writers of America -Wikipedia.
The story was made into a movie in 1951 by Howard Hawks (The Thing From Another World), In 1982 John Carpenter's The Thing, and 2011 Matthijs van Heijningen, Jr. The Thing -2011
Here's a nice "Retrospective Review by Oliver Harper" about John Carpenter's Thing
This is a movie about trust and never being certain what or who you are dealing with, which includes one's self. It's a great story, which has been produced quite brilliantly in three different interpretations, albeit John Carpenter's is the most closely followed to John W. Campbell's initial writings. Let's talk trust, gore and the real possibility of knowing your own self!
On this week’s edition of Scottscope Talk Radio, the roundtable reviews the ultra-violent new actioner John Wick! Is it the truly the game changer that the advance buzz has suggested it is? Does it warrant comparison to the likes of other Keanu Reeves action vehicles such as Point Break, Speed, or The Matrix? Does Keanu Reeves manage to redefine his screen persona by playing the role of the title character? Will he join the ranks of other aging action heroes like Liam Neeson and Denzel Washington? Does a film like this still hold any appeal whatsoever for mainstream audiences? Is it tailor made for a very specific fanbase? Can John Wick be considered a latter day Heroic Bloodshed film? It is yet another extension of Keanu’s ongoing love affair with Asian action cinema?
JOHN CHEATDOM WAS BORN IN BROOKLYN AND HAS NOW LIVED IN LONDON FOR OVER 30 YEARS. HE WENT TO LONDON WITHOUT KNOWING ANYONE AND WAS OFFERED A CHANCE TO COME TO ENGLAND BY PROMOTER PETER STRINGFELLOW WHO WAS IN SEARCH OF SOUL ACTS THAT HE COULD BRING TO ENGLAND TO PERFORM AT HIS MOJO CLUB.
JOHN WAS SINGING WITH A BROOKLYN BASED GROUP BY THE NAME OF “THE VELOURS” WHICH PRODUCED A HIT RECORD IN 1956 BY THE NAME OF “CAN I COME OVER TONIGHT.” AT THE AGE OF 17, HE WAS TRAVELING ALL OVER AMERICA PERFORMING WITH THE GROUP TO INCLUDE THE PLATTERS. HOWEVER, THE VALOURS BROKE UP ABOUT THE SAME TIME AS THE PLATTERS AND FOUND HIMSELF SINGING WITH A REORGANIZED GROUP THAT PICKED UP THE NAME.
AFTER TOURING EUROPE OVER THE YEARS AS A MEMBER OF WHAT BECAME THE MAGICAL PLATTERS, HE MANAGED TO CARVE OUT A SIGNIFICANT CAREER AND LIFE FOR HIS FAMILY. EVEN TODAY, JOHN TRAVELS REGULARLY WITH THE ENGLISH VERSION OF THE PLATTERS AND HAS MAINTAINED HIS PERFORMANCE SKILLS AT THEIR PEAK AT THIS STAGE IN HIS LIFE.

A year in the making, this solo "pet" project has been handled with care. Channeling some of my DIY heroes like Paul McCartney, Todd Rundgren, and even Prince, I play every instrument on this album - including drums. I took my time building this dinosaur from the ground up. First tracking drums, then bass, then keys, guitars, and whatever else I could get my hands on, and finally vocals. Much of the album was improvised as I began recording.
