The Metrics of Human Consciousness with Richard Barrett
History has shown that the evolution of measurement is the key to the evolution of societies, something we take for granted since most of our measurements are already standardized. Richard Barrett believes that we are missing one very important standardized measurement– human consciousness.
In his book, The Metrics of Human Consciousness, Richard delves into what consciousness is and how it can be quantified in order to significantly improve our individual, organizational, and societal performance. By creating psychological measurement technologies, Richard believes that we can change the conversation not just about what exists, but what we need to move to in order to resolve the current issues our global society is facing.
Richard Barrett, Founder and Chairman of the Barrett Values Centre, is an internationally recongnised thought leader on values, culture and leadership in business and society. He is a Fellow of the World Business Academy, Member of the Wisdom Council of the Center for Integral Wisdom, Honorary Board Member of the Spirit of Humanity Forum, and Former Values Coordinator at the World Bank.

Why do we need a measurement within the economic system that values human survival, human existense? The answer to this is that the lack of a 'human heart', within the economic systems we are all compellled to work in, is generating more and more distructive symptoms. Symtoms we all know well like, wars over natural resources, rigged elections, economic terrorism, religious prejudice, scape goating, on and on. All these are symtoms of an economics that values ony 'the bottom line' and the myth of 'survival of the fittest' (another excuse for discrimination). All these distructive economic symtoms are taking us to our own extinction along with all the other creatures and plants that have already gone extinct because of human behavior motivated by economics.
Why are so many people being killed around the world?
Think of that sad "terrorism" around our world. Is such "terrorism" being provoked by our dependence on foreign oil and other natural resource under their ground ? Dennis, Jeff, and Susan will discuss this interesting issue.
HREM, Human Renewable Energy Measurement. All these years when America had free grade school and free high school, why has college been SO expensive? When a student graduates high school the average age is 18. That's the same age when he or she can become a military soldier. If they could not afford that expensive college, they've been told to just go overseas for a few years and they will afford higher education.
The sad news is that some of these teenagers never returned home and died in the army or navy or air force. Even some that were lucky enough to return home, committed suicide after leaving these wars. When they return home, they are reminded of their loving religious upbringing. They had been taught to "love thy neighbor" or "thou shalt not kill". If they were told overseas to "go in that house and kill whoever you see" they now mourn for all those innocent men or women or children that they killed under military order.
Fortunately, President Obama is now recommending that college becomes as free to our students as was their grade school and high school.
As an example, Saudi Arabia is No. 6 on the list of dictatorships in our world. They get most of their weapons from countries like ours and we get a low price for the oil from under their ground. Instead of sending our boys and girls overseas to get that good price on their oil, why not switch to solar or wind power? That could also put an end to Climate Change on our planet.
