    The Career Passion Myth

    in Self Help

Do we need career passion? And what is career passion anyway? What if you don't have it - should you quit your job to get it? To many of us, the idea of pursuing career passion just seems out of the question. For others of us, we can't imagine doing work we're not passionate about. In this episode, Angela talks candidly about career passion and the myth that your job should be the source of your joy and identity.

    The Defenders (Netflix series) Pitch

    in Movies

Mark Radulich pitches an idea for the upcoming Defenders Series airing on Netflix.

The superheroes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist team-up in New York City.

The Defenders will see Cox, Ritter, and Colter reprising their roles as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, respectively, from previous television series. In March 2014, Loeb stated that the miniseries, officially titled Marvel's The Defenders, would begin filming after all of the individual series.

This pitch was inspired by the Screen Junkies Movie Fights question, "What MCU Franchise should Jessica Jones Team Up With?"  My answer to this question led to a series pitch idea.

Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey - with Harvey Mason!

    in Music

When you contemplate the illustrious career of Harvey Mason, your mind HAS to be blown.  Born and raised in Atlantic City, young Harvey absorbed the vibes of the great musicians THERE - and showed so much promise on drums that he was playing with Duke Ellington and Errol Garner in the 60's.  Early in his recording career, there he was - up front and center with Blue Note Records. And on Columbia: Please go check out Herbie Hancock and The Headhunters for a refresher course in freshly fused Jazz :)

The associations that this consummate first-call musician has made through five decades is staggering.  Because, quite simply, HE is.  Nathan East has shared space and stages with The Mase for 25 years or so (Fourplay's "Silver" just dropped) and he firmly suggests that drummers of ANY note studied Harvey Mason in order to find their own style.  He was THAT distinctive THAT early in his journey.

We dare you to find another legendary drummer who has been involved with more Gold and Platinum recording sessions than our guest.  Awards, accolades, nods from NARAS and "Modern Drummer."  Over 150 motion picture soundtracks.  A regular fixture at the Oscars each year.  And that long relationship with Fourplay cannot be stressed enough.  When you're with a successful musical unit for 25 years, that's cause for celebration!

As bandmates Nathan, Chuck Loeb, Bob James, and Harvey prepare for a holiday run at the Blue Note in New York, our friend wanted to take the time - during this Thanksgiving week - to express his gratitude for all that his fans have given him. How beautiful that NEW fans and fellow artists got together for his album last year.  And how wonderful that life-long "brothers" are banding together again right before Christmas.  How fortunate are we to visit with Harvey again?  You already KNOW :)
