Weird News, Pop Culture, & The Middle East

    in Politics

Hr1 Andrea Nelson joins Joe to cover current events, including those weird news you wont find anywhere.

The Oscars as a political platform? Maybe they should do a little homework before spouting Liberal talking points.

How does Neil Patrick Harris in his underwear illuminate the Oscars?

Judge says a Detroit man must pay $30K in child support for kid who is not his

Hr2 Why doesn't the FFRF or the AHA sue the President when he says God Bless America? They only pick on schools.

Major General Paul E. Vallely, US Army (ret) check in with an update on the violence in the Middle East. Where exactly is that coalition of 60 allies that we're supposed to have?

Dems think that he should be able to ignore federal court rulings and laws. Wouldn't that make us a ruling monarchy?

Hr3  Atty General Holder says the best way to secure the border is by protecting illegal immigrants. Huh?

Sally Kohn from CNN wants her child to be gay (like her). It's ok for her to want to push that on her daughter, but it's not ok for Christian to push their child to be straight. Hypocrisy at it's finest.

Which party supported: abolition, women's voting rights? Republicans. Which party supported Obamacare?

Why won't people admit that they don't know about something? They just make stuff up!

Pro-abortion Sen. David Haley complained about the use of the term “dismemberment” when discussing Kansas law “Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act.

Politicians Created Poverty, Make'em Pass Bills to End Poverty

    in Politics Progressive

Politicians and CEOs are taking America back to 19th century and non-voters are to blame. Americans have to put the puzzles pieces together. Cost of living, wages and voting is political and is tied directly to our lives whether we vote or not. Poverty continues in America thanks to GOP blocking bills. If we are to lower unemployment, raise wages, stop the endless votes to repeal ACA, and end American invovled wars we must figure out politicians can pass pass bills to make these things happen. Politicians are passing bills to favor CEOs. CEOs interest is no taxation for corporations; no litigation being brought by poor people against corporations; getting rid of government regulations. CEOs want to make more profit without investing in workingclass / consumers. If America continue to not vote, ALEC, SCOTUS and Politicians gets what they want. Two classes of Americans. Wealthy who lives long lives and poor who die young untimely deaths.

The Private Sector Comes Through Again! Jobs, ACA, Speeches And Roads

    in Politics Conservative

What a nice Jobs Report. Not perfect, but nice. It has a lot of what I look for. Besides job growth, we had signs of less discouragement as 350,000+ people began looking for work again. This led to an uptick in the unemployment rate, but for all the right reasons. That being said, there still reason to raise an eyebrow (or two), but overall, it was a third month in a row of encouraging news.

Obamacare is under attack. We will look at this upcoming Supreme Court Case, King v Burwell. What will happen this time? Will Roberts jump ship again? Will it be Kennedy this time. I'll tell you why Obamacare opponents should not get their hopes up. The intent of congress will rule this ruling.

And back to Netanyahu .... As the Grinch said about Christmas, maybe this speech isn't just a speech. Maybe this speech is a little bit more. I wonder which story will have more staying power .... Brian Williams foggy memory or the Netanyahu uproar. In any case, there is now backlash to the backlash and we will talk about it.

And in that same region, John Kerry says we are 'on the road' to defeating ISIS. I think the Allstate Mayhem dude keeps re-calculating Kerry's GPS. What road is Kerry talking about? Has that road even been built yet? I wonder.

All this and more Monday night at 8pm EST ..... Come jump into my pond.

The Signalis Show: Article 3 US Constitution

    in Politics Conservative

Article 3 of the US Constitution created the Judicial Branch. This is better known as the Supreme Court of the United States. ( SCOTUS). Of the 3 branches of the federal government, this branch may very well be the most powerful and influential. As such, we're going to dedicate an entire show to SCOTUS.

This branch has the ability- in and of itself- to steer the direction of the country with it's decisions and equally with the decisions it doesn't make. We'll discuss it tonight.

J4p Updates as usual in the first half.

LH #203: Marriage Equality & Political Mishaps

    in LGBT

On Sunday 25 January 2015 Corwin and Phil talked marriage equality and political mishaps. Particularly the marriage equality case in Nebraska. As of the time this show went live it looked like the judge scheduled to hear the case had postponed the hearing pending the ruling from SCOTUS on similar cases before them this session. Phil has since learned that it was merely a postponement of a hearing to allow same sex marriage in Nebraska pending his final decision. That hearing has been rescheduled and Corwin and Phil will be talking more about that on 1 February.

Lavender Hill airs live every Sunday morning at 11am Central. Approaching four years on the air, Lavender Hill is Nebraska's only LGBTQIAA news and talk program on community radio. Thanks to the continued support of KZUM and listeners, Lavender Hill will be celebrating the four year anniversary the same time that KZUM celebrates 37 years on the airwaves!

You can find Lavender Hill on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.

  • EXODUS: PRISONS STRATEGIC BLACKOUT THROUGH WHITEWASH

    in Radio

Hawkins v. Russell is another in a long line of rulings that unnecessarily restrict prisoners’ First Amendment rights.

Prison officials initially contended that George L. Jackson literature was banned in the prison. However, in March 2011, a federal district court found no such institutional ban. The court denied the officials’ motion for summary judgment, noting also that “Folsom had not imposed a formal ban on Blood in My Eye” in August 2007.

The court indicated that prison officials could renew their motion for summary judgment if they could produce evidence that they properly confiscated the item for other legitimate security concerns.

The Recent film Exodus has been banned in Egypt - due to the actors portraying the roles being predominatley Caucasian.

We'll look at the New Movie Selma by Oprah winfrey and review George L Jackson's words concerning ' passive struggle'
