    Bastia Marlowe~Ancester of a Legend-Marie Laveau

    in Paranormal

    Bastia Marlowe

Bastia Marlowe was born in and grew up in New Orleans, LA under another name.  There, she lived amongst the living and the dead, spent her early adolescence immersed in rain, attended Catholic church, and roamed the city's haunted and flavored streets.  She loved all things New Orleans and once stood in line for 5 hours to be included in the film adaption of fellow New Orleanian Anne Rice's "Interview with a Vampire."  After a stint of performing theater and writing, she moved to Los Angeles in 2001 in her 20s hoping to experience ghosts but mainly exists among the walking dead.  She mostly misses Audubon Park, the low-hanging branches of trees lining St. Charles Ave., stage lights, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, NOMA, driving through City Park, creaky floors in old houses, old cemeteries, and rain. Bastia Marlowe is the great-grand daughter of Marie Laveau.

About Marie Catherine Laveau (September 10, 1801 - June 16, 1881 ) was a practitioner of Voodoo renowned in New Orleans. (As for the date of her birth, while popular sources often say 1794, the records indicate 1801.) Her daughter, Marie Laveau II, (1827 c. 1895) also practiced Voudoun, as well as Voodoo. She and her mother had great influence over their multiracial following. In 1874 as many as twelve thousand spectators, both black and white, swarmed to the shores of Lake Pontchartrain to catch a glimpse of Marie Laveau II performing her legendary rites on St. John's Eve (June 23–24)

Hal Bodner joins Thorne & Cross: Haunted Nights LIVE!

    in Books

Hal Bodner is the author of the best selling gay vampire novel, Bite Club and the lupine sequel, The Trouble With Hairy. He tells people he was born in East Philadelphia because so few people know where Cherry Hill, New Jersey is located.  The first person he saw ever saw was the doctor who delivered him, C. Everet Coop, the future US Surgeon General.  Thus, Hal was ironically destined to become a heavy smoker.

He moved to West Hollywood in the 1980s and has rarely left the city limits during the past several decades.  Hal is so WeHo-centric that he cannot find his way around Beverly Hills, the next town over. Hal has been an entertainment lawyer, a scheduler for a 976 sex telephone line, a theater reviewer and the personal assistant to a television star.  He once owned Heavy Petting, a pet boutique where all the movie stars shopped for their Pomeranians. He also owned an exotic bird shop.

Hal has also written a few erotic paranormal romances -- which he refers to as “supernatural smut” -- most notably In Flesh and Stone and  For Love of the Dead.   His comic gay super hero trilogy will debut in 2015 with Fabulous in Tights to be followed soon thereafter by A Study in Spandex.  He has recently agreed to write a series of  mystery novellas featuring a gay detective and his sidekick, the madam of a bordello.

Hal recently married a man roughly half his age who had no idea that Liza Minnelli and Judy Garland were related.  He believes that the use of hair dye is rarely an adequate substitute for .

Atlanta, GA - Music, modeling and acting are among the top three career goals for many in the entertainment field, but it is a well known fact that only a small percentage actually make any real headway in all three pursuits. Up and comer Drew Stephenson will not tell you that he is different, but he will show you with his persistence, determination and dedication. So much so that the young actor just stepped off the USA Network's newest television drama, "Complications," and is now celebrating landing a recurring role on one of television's top suspense series, "Vampire Diaries," on The CW. Stephenson will play Collin, an integral character to the show's plot, on two consecutive shows, starting January 22, 2015.  A second generation Jamaican, Stephenson was born in Brooklyn and currently resides in Atlanta. The handsome young looker initially got his start in the business eight years ago as a fashion model, booking gigs like the Sean John anniversary fashion show and print ads for Ashley Furniture, Belk, and Wingate.
