Ignore the propaganda about today's children in America's urban communities being lazy dropouts that only want tofight and sell drugs. It's not a bit true, and for those who worked with young people this summer, they discovered an enthusiastic group of youth who are excited about science, technology, engineering and math! Lauren Ward, author of The 6 Step Plan: Rising To Greatness To Fulfill Your Destiny, worked with students in the PUSH Excel STEM Program thjis summer, teaching them how to master the new media technology. A recent graduate of Howard University, she recognized that many youth have a burning desire to excel, and merely needed the opportunity to learn. It is our responsibility as parents to cultivate the natural genius in our children, and to ignore the propaganda that others continue to spread, making excuses as to why urban schools are underfunded and undersupported. We can turn our homes into institutions of higher learning. We can give our children a different vision of their future; we can teach them that they are here to take over and change the world that others have destroyed, by discovering new ways to produce fuel, travel, grow food, and communicate. We can instill in our children the reality that the word is falling apart so that they can rebuild it the way it should be - with fairness, justice, and respect for all. Lauren Ward give tips on how to motivate youth to strive for their highest potential.
Author, Elliot Maynard on the Arcos Cielos Research Center
New Paradigms in Science, Education, Fine Arts, Global Ecology and Human Potential Development
Dr. Elliot Maynard has done extensive field research on tropical marine ecosystems, and on the behavior of coral reef fishes and invertebrates. He studied tropical biology and rainforest ecology at the Organization for Tropical Studies in Costa Rica with renowned global forestry expert, Dr. Leslie Holdridge, and subsequently went on to do pioneering research the field of giant freshwater shrimp aquaculture in Florida and Puerto Rico. In 1980-81 Elliott worked as a Research Scientist at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, where he played a key role in Project Management, Development of Advanced Aquaculture Systems, and Future Food Resources. In Kuwait he worked with 1200 scientists and technical specialists from around the world.
In 1989, following a decade of pioneering work of giant freshwater shrimp aquaculture in Florida and Puerto Rico, the Mr. & Mrs. turned their attention to Native American Education. Working as Education Specialists for the Hopi Tribe of Arizona. Their efforts resulted in a set of goals and standards for the then new $22 million Hopi Jr./Sr. High School, as well as a unique Hopi Cultural Curriculum which integrated Hopi and conventional western worldviews into the existing educational system. During this time-period Elliott began developing a futuristic educational system called The University of the Future Project®

One of the things we hear time and time again is the importance of Science, Technology Engineering and Math commonly referred to as STEM in the education. In order for students to be better prepared for the workforce of the future. Well, I am especially pleased to have Joules Webb on the show. Joules is the Associate Director, Pre-freshman Engineering Program (PREP), The University of Texas at San Antonio. She is also an advocate for STEM eduation and is known on Twitter as @STEMJoules.
On today's show we learn more about what Joules is doing to promote STEM in our community. She also shares the inspiration and goals behind the Women in FIRST luncheon event.
Special Guest: Gladys Delancey Bolding, Founder & COO, BioLogue
The mission of the BioLogue STEM Adventures is to provide girls with the opportunity to engage in free hands-on Science Technology Engineering and Math activities that will spark their interests in the world around them. Youth will have opportunity to explore forensic science, physics, microbiology, chemistry, earth science, microscopy and breast cancer awareness for adults.

Jeff Lieberman wonders about the questions we all asked as 4-year-olds, but seem to have forgotten as adults. Who are we? How did we get here? Tune in as Sister Jenna is joined by Jeff Lieberman on the America Meditating Radio Show for a conversation about consciousness, science and spirituality.
Jeff Lieberman explores the connections between the arts, sciences, education, creativity, and consciousness. He hosted "Time Warp" on the Discovery Channel, reminding us of how little our senses detect and understand about reality. He composes music in the duo Knolls and shows sculptures internationally, exploring our unseen interconnectedness and interdependence. Having finished four degrees at MIT (Physics, Math, Mechanical Engineering, Media Arts + Sciences), he is exploring how the evolution of consciousness can cease human suffering. We talk with Christopher J. Smith of Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) about emerging technology and research to support individuals with autism.
Christopher J. Smith, Ph.D., Vice President and Director of Research at SARRC, is an experimental psychologist with expertise in the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and measurement of associated traits. Before joining SARRC, Dr. Smith was an assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and still maintains a faculty position. His background is in phenotyping complex psychiatric disorders for the purposes of genetic studies.
Under the direction of Dr. Smith, SARRC’s research team focuses on improving the early detection of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and expediting accurate diagnostic methods; advancing research on effective treatments for autism, both pharmaceutical and behavioral, that lead to an improved quality of life for individuals with the disorder and their families; and educating all kinds of professionals in the community to improve detection, diagnosis and services for individuals with autism.
Candace Benson and Deborah Chaddock Brown discuss some of the latest developments in online marketing for small business owners.
