An exciting month, this has been. We have discussed the business sense of the education system in Zambia. We close the topic by discussing government, private and international scholarships. Joining the discussion are Mr Peter Kasaji, Thomas Gussie and Gwendolyn Pate. Thomas Gussie, originally from New Jersey, is the Vice President of GLOBAL STUDENT EXCHANGE (GSE) Inc. GSE is an international study abroad company located just outside Jacksonville Florida. We work with our global connections for long term collaborations to identify and place qualified secondary students ages 13 - 18 yrs old in one of our 55-60 private boarding and day high schools across the U.S. The program is a springboard for students whose ultimate goal is to study at college/university in the U.S. Gwendolyn Pate has been in higher education for 29 years. In those years, with some overlapping, she has served 19 years as coordinator of college ambassador program and has been in advising and counselling for 13 years. Part B: Target parents with children actively involved in youth sports or in HS wanting to go to college
Why do some students and schools get lots of college attention while others do not?
Are sports scholarships only for the top 1% of athletes?
At what age or grade are they seriously looking at athletes for future consideration?
What is a full ride and what can an athlete really expect to receive?
I'm in a small town, how can my athletes start to get recognized?
5 step plan to build the brand for your athlete
Evaluate current rank
Set realistic expectations and associated goals
Identify leagues and programs that support your goal
Actively participate in developing profiles and placing wherever you can for target coaches and Athletic directors
Prepare well in advance for major events including regional and national all-star games, combines, training opportunities where athletes can meet coaches and other athletes outside of their circle.
I need help to build the plan and keep track of all details, what resources are there to help a parent.
John Reuben, Founder and CEO of the Non-Profit Saving Teens in Crisis Collaborative (SavingTeens), joined Lon Jan. 12, 2015 to explain the planned fuindraising dinner for SavingTeens in March in Nashville, Tennessee. It will be at the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) conference where hundreds of top quality private residential schools and program meet every year for training and networking. Reuben explained how this is the latest in a series of fundraisers the ten year old SavingTeens organization has held to raise money to help parents financially whose children need an intensive residential intervention, but cannot afford a quality school or program. Reuben explained that SavingTeens has been growing in the number of children they have helped each year and hopes to be able to get to where it can help about 10 to 15 children a year in the very near future.
