    The Conservative Refuge: 3/30/2015

    in Politics Conservative

    On tonight's show:

With the state budget approaching a final passage, the issue of tax relief takes center stage.  We'll discuss.

A new report shows the O'Malley health care exchange bilked tens of millions from US taxpayers leaving yet another mess for the Hogan administration to clean up.

With doctor assisted suicide bills reaching votes in Annapolis, I share (and skewer) an absurd editorial on the subject in a local Maryland paper.

Wesley J. Smith suggests we celebrate electricity instead of "Earth Day". I agree.

And because people judge you by the words you use, 15 pairs of words that seem etymologically related but are not.

Marisa de los Santos, Mary Norris & Charles Finch

    in Books

Don't miss the hour we're spending with two New York Times best-selling novelists and a Common Queen. We'll also give away the books we're featuring, as we talk with:

Marisa de los Santos. Her newly released novel The Precious One tells the story of half-sisters Taisy and Willow, told from their alternating points of view. Brought together by their father, it's a book about family secrets, lost love and dangerous obsession.
Mary Norris. A copy editor at The New Yorker for more than 30 years, her warm and humorous memoir Between You & Me: Confessions of a Comma Queen is not so much about a need for perfect grammar, but about a love for words and language.
Charles Finch. His stand-alone novel The Last Enchantments came out in paperback earlier this month. In it, a Yale grad whose work in politics leads to disappointment finds himself caught in a whirlwind of unexpected friendships, and romantic entanglements, that threaten his safe plans.

Hosted by Cindy Wolfe Boynton. Visit the Literary New England blog for more book giveaways, author talk, event information and to listen to past episodes -- book-tatstic updates posted regularly!

ELENA RADFORD! INCA SHAMAN TOOLS AND PRODUCTS!

    in Spirituality

    -Elena Radford

Born and raised in Peru, Elena Camargo Radford comes from a lineage of an Ancient Incan Culture. This ancient linage is steeped in shamanic teachings and practices. She has inherited and developed the sacred language and communication used by her people from over thousands of years ago. The tools accompanying these skills are multi-dimensional in quality and unlike others, allow Elena to tap into the DNA and ancestral heritage of the subjects in order to heal them on every level, reaching the spirit and soul, eliminating any and all negative energy. This technique, unique to the Ancient Incan Tribe, has been suppressed over the centuries…

As a child, Elena’s questions about life were often received on a vibrational level, in stillness, “They just came to me from the plants, the animals and the mountains,” said Elena. During her childhood, this same connection existed with other children as it would come to her in a wave of emotion, feeling their story, their background, their home. Trusting this feeling, and knowing she has a gift, Elena cultivated, nourished and developed these qualities well into her college years until she moved to the United States. “Culturally,” she says, “it was different here and I found people not understanding or embracing my ways. I was young too. Consequently I tried to shut out my natural tendencies of intuition and healing. I thought it didn’t fit into the lifestyle here.”

Elena’s practice of Inca shamanism includes, activating water, Crystals, and the information within them that allows people to clear their DNA. As an Incan Shaman, she is well revered and respected by her peers. Elena shares her gifts and insights, by providing numerous services to others, including individual sessions, web-seminars and workshops.

Talking with actor and novelist Cory Williams

    in Lifestyle

Today's guest is Cory Williams  a writer/actor currently living and working in Los Angeles, California and seeking to spread the good word about my work.  As a Boomer Having moved from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Los Angeles, California- the entertainment Mecca of the country- to be an actor, one could say that from one job to the next, He is  still continuously pursuing the dream, one that is about the journey, not necessarily the destination.  In the process of pursuing the dream, he's become  a published novelist. As a writer, his primary genre of choice is science fiction.  He always believed that one of the most powerful questions posed in any language is “What if…?”  As such, science fiction- being the mythology of the modern age- is the perfect playground in which to allow his active and fertile imagination to run free.    He currently has four novels published and on the market, available in print-to-order trade paperback and downloadable e-book format.

    in Spirituality

The topics of this show are based on Lakota Star Knowledge and may include viewing current events from the Ancient Lakota perspective. This show's objective is perpetuate peace among all people, as the foundation of all universes is based on "Mitakuye Oyas'in". The Lakota Star Knowledge definition of "Mitakuye Oyas'in" is that before you can be at peace with all the relatives throughout all universes, you must first have peace among all the relatives within your own inner universe. The mind, body, soul and emotions are all connected to each other. When you do your best in nurturing these four parts, you will establish peace within yourself. Only then are you able to be at peace with all creation around you.

HOTEP KENYATTA: Language is a tool of oppression/freedom

    in Education

Hotep Kenyatta (Dr Shaka Blaka) speaks re:  Language can be a tool of oppression. Clearly few people want to connect themselves to Africa? Why.  Because from the 7th century AD onwards, powerful scholars took a passage from Jewish ancient holy texts and misrepresented it as though "dark skin is a curse from God, who cursed Noah's son Ham for seeing his father naked and drunk, etc"     Since then, there have been various efforts to hide the black/african nature of all civilization/humanity, and language has not been spared the racists/white nationalists sword of destruction.  (NOTE: Let's also remember that an ancient African, or Native South American language may be represented in Latin Script (letters, characters) but that this never means that the original language is Latin/Roman. Only the writing style used to represent the ancient African, etc sounds/spoken language.  People get this confused so often, and brainwashing is hard to fix when people don't know they're brainwashed...!

Also listen in for how the concept of ETYMOLOGY is used in racist way.

What Can Teens and Young Adults Do To Stop Police Brutally?

    in Social Networking

What makes police officers and the government powerless? When the American people know their rights!

Police officers don't like to hear these words:

    "Am I free to go?"

    "I don't consent to a search."

    "I'm going to remain silent."

You have rights during a traffic stop or any police encounter. Learn what your rights are and use them before you loose them!

    1. Safety - When being pulled over pull over to a safe place, turn off your ignition, stay in the car and keep your hands on the steering wheel. At night turn on the interior light. Keep your license, registration and proof of insurance close by like in your "sun visor."

Immediately roll your window down all the way. Not half way, not an inch so you can speak through the crack. All the way. Among other things, it will show that you have nothing to hide.

Be courteous, stay calm, smile and don't complain. Show respect and say things like "sir and no sir." Never bad-mouth a police officer, stay in control of your words, body language and your emotions. Keep your hands where the police officer can see them. Never touch a police officer and never run away!

SC EP:90 Interview with Bob Gimlin

    in Science

The Patterson–Gimlin film is a famous short motion picture of an unidentified subject the film makers purported to be a "Bigfoot", that was supposedly filmed on October 20, 1967, by Roger Patterson and Robert "Bob" Gimlin  on Bluff Creek, a tributary of the Klamath River about 25 road miles north-west of Orleans, California. The film has been subjected to many attempts both to debunk and authenticate it.

Both Patterson and Gimlin have always insisted they encountered and filmed a real Bigfoot, not a man in a costume. Patterson died of cancer in 1972. Patterson's friend, Gimlin, has always denied being involved in any part of a hoax with Patterson. Gimlin mostly avoided publicly discussing the subject from at least the early 1970s until about 2003. Tonight we will discuss the events around the film and what lead up to the famous encounter.
