Bernie Sanders Under Fire for Saying Sandy Hook Families Shouldn't Be Allowed to Sue Gun Manufacturers. In the same sense that if you're a gun dealer and you sell me a gun and I go out and I kill him [gestures to someone in room] … Do I think that that gun dealer should be sued for selling me a legal product that he misused?" Sanders told the Daily News, shaking his head no.
"But I do believe that gun manufacturers and gun dealers should be able to be sued when they should know that guns are going into the hands of wrong people. So if somebody walks in and says, 'I'd like 10,000 rounds of ammunition,' you know, well, you might be suspicious about that. So I think there are grounds for those suits, but not if you sell me a legal product." Hillary Clinton hits Bernie Sanders on gun control, and sharpens attacks. Armed with a blistering tabloid cover, Hillary Clinton is pitting Bernie Sanders against the parents of children murdered in Sandy Hook, part of an effort to punch her way into the critical New York primary.
Our guest and author, Robert Batista will share his passion and journey to curb and stop gun violence through his writing and novellas called Street Angel and The City Game. He will talk about the “iron pipeline” and the collateral impact of gun violence. Gun violence is not the answer to disputes, disagreements and differences. Robert will discuss non-violent approaches to dealing with these differences and share his stories.
Robert Batista grew up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. After attending Brooklyn College, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California, he began his writing career; first with poetry, then short stories.
In 1992 he founded Word Is Bond Press and began writing and publishing positive, uplifting stories for teenagers and young adults. His books ‘The City Game’, ‘Street Angel’, and ‘Brooklyn Story’ were picked up by the NYC Department Of Education, and Robert’s powerful message of self-determination and non-violence is now required reading in schools throughout the country. He is currently working on his new young adult novel, ‘Crisis At Central High’.

Topic: Gun Control and Mental Illness
When: Thursday, April 21, 2016
Time: 8:00 PM CST
We are in the midst of an election cycle in which gun control is a hot topic. Opinions range from one end of the spectrum to the other. In the heat of the debate, Sen. Bernie Sanders was the only candidate to mention mental health in relation to gun control. Why is mental health still a taboo topic especially in the wake of so much violence and too many mass shootings? Let's talk about it.
We welcome the Beverly Cunningham Outreach Program to the studio. April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention month. Our special guest Roderick Cunningham, is the Founder of BCOP.
The foundation's mission is to provide individual and group counseling, advocacy and rehabilitation services to survivors of domestic violence. The foundation also seeks to be an outlet for community youth who are at risk of becoming victims of violence, substance abuse or who are impacted by health issues.
Domestic Violence doesn’t just affect the victim but also the community as a whole. We are always looking for advocates to assist us in not only raising awareness of this crime but also with outreach programs.
Tune in, learn some facts, how you can help and become aware of domestic violence, human trafficking and HIV/AIDS.
See you on the radio
Violence is our biggest issue as cowards are quick to pick up the gun. The pigs continously murder us while those living around us sit in windows watching rallies taking place yet they do nothing. The economy is so poor in the ghettos drug sales seems to be the major career choice while our representatives only show up to calls of peace and resistance for checks.
