How did we get here in healthcare? Through a series of small decisions, inadvertently leading to a disaster. Patients no longer matter: metrics do. Value is about metrics. Payment is about value. Value is about "metricable" value, not patient and physician and societl values. Dr Jonas your host will comment on this and refer to a blog post:The Devaluation of the Doctor http://drelainageorge.com/?p=1122 by Dr Elaine George, an ENT physician with pretty good insights.

Disaster Happens, it’s a given whether man-made or natural, we can pretty much know that at some given time or another we or a loved one will have to endure and survive a disaster. Often times when discussing such things the conversation can take on some pretty dramatic terms, just like a disaster and even talking about what to do can be overwhelming to even those experienced in being prepared.
The first thing to remember is you do not need to be a survival “expert” to be prepared. But you do need to be alert ,aware and have make a plan. The thing is, disasters can happen anytime, maybe while you are reading this, are you ready? Tonight on NMEMINDZ Radio - Gentrification and it's role in displacing our communities. What happened to our people after Hurricane Katrina, was that gentrification, even if it was a natural disaster? Also, can Brooklyn, Oakland, Detroit and other majority Black cities be gentrified if we don't own anything? If we don't own the residence where we lay our heads? What steps can we take to stop the bleeding and breakdown of Black communities and build strong Black owned infrastructure? The ca/ll in # is 347-633-9644. 8pm EST / 5pm PST. Peace.
We all have a story. No one’s story is “better” than the other because our lives… our journeys are all different. What’s clear though, is that every breakthrough to a renewed sense of self, of lives awakening, of careers transformed, of lifestyles forever changed, comes from a decision steeped in a “this isn’t what I signed up for” moment.
In this broadcast, we will discuss the twists and turns of our journeys along with how we each were able to weather the storm. We hope to connect and inspire those who may feel like there’s no way out, that there’s no way someone like me will be able to see my way through.

"Right now the state has only about one year of water supply left in its reservoirs, and our strategic backup supply, groundwater, is rapidly disappearing. California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one..."
That's what one LA Times Op-Ed reporter has to say. What cannot be denied is that there is a major freaking disaster unfolding before our eyes. What's a little more vague is the awareness of the rest of the country, the potential ramifications AND perhaps, the root cause(s) for what is shaping up to be the most devastating drought in this country's history.
