Jeremy and Mouth take a look at the Northern California schools. Can Cal and San Jose State get better? How are Stanford and Fresno going to recover from key players leaving? Find out here.
Jeremy and Chris are back to keep the preview series rolling along by preview the San Jose State Spartans. Not to spoil the whole show, but the Spartans will... (gotta listen, I am not giving away the show). The big concerns about San Jose State is their offensive line which lost the overwhelming majority of talent from last season.
The other is quarterback with the lose of David Fales and the quarterback battle is down to Joe Gray and Blake Jurich, and that should be decided by the middle of August after a few scrimmages.
The defense has work to do based off of last season's poor rush defense, but the good news for the Spartans is that they return the bulk of their defense and get back linebacker Vince Buhagiar.
We also recap the Mountain West media days going over some of the comments, preseason rankings and all-league teams.
Events in Ferguson opened a lot of eyes to the fact that much of America is becoming a police state, with militarized police at that. The overwhelming response to nonviolent protests of the apparent execution of a young man by police was frightening to many people who always believed that if they weren't doing anything wrong, they had nothing to fear from the police.
How did the police get militarized? Will Congress do anything about it in the aftermath of Ferguson? Is it possible that the war on terror is an excuse for preparing for domestic unrest in the face of what many are predicting will be a complete collapse of the Ponzi scheme that the American and global financial system has become?
I address these and other questions with our resident political and economic expert Karl Eysenbach in this episode of Taking Back America. Eysenbach is a frequent guest on this show and blogs at Old New Lefty.
This show will be rebroadcast on September 13 at 9 AM PST/ 12 PM EST on the Star Com Radio network.

With the growing conflicts in Ferguson over the death of Michael Brown, as well as the document released this week by the Department of the Army titled “Civil Disturbances,” we will be discussing the growing Police State within America that is starting to resemble Martial Law.
Despite the lack of confirmation of details regarding the death of Michael Brown, we have seen clashes every single night between protesters and police within Ferguson Missouri. We have seen wrong doing on both sides – there have been demonstrators reportedly throwing Molotov cocktails. There has been reports of gunfire coming from the crowd. The police department has deployed tear gas nightly. They have been using LRAD Sound Cannons, shooting flash grenades and rubber bullets and the media. One officer has been caught on video cursing at peaceful demonstrators and threatening to kill them.
We will also be attending the National Day of Rage in Dallas Texas as locals in North Texas gather to show their support for the demonstrators in Ferguson. We will be collecting sound bytes to play during our show as well.

On today's show I briefly cover some of the news coming out of the Missouri riots and give my take on it. Alternative media outlets frequently use the term "police state" without providing an actual description of what a police state is. I provide an accurate description of what a police state is, and I will let you decide whether or not the U.S. is a police state. My opinion is that it is not a police state since the people continue to enjoy more freedoms than 98% of other countries on the face of the planet. The U.S. still allows for the private ownership of weapons, even fully automatic weapons (although they are expensive and licenses are difficult to get) whereas many other westernized and eastern countries do not allow their populations to own any sort of firearms. The general population of the U.S. still has the ability to travel freely by whatever means they can, whereas in a police state (think North Korea) mobility and travel are highly restricted.
Although I do not believe that the U.S. is a police state (even though it could potentially end up that way at some point in the future), I will say that the U.S. is a surveillance state where every word typed into a web page, or every text message or phone call, e-mail is tracked, traced, recorded, stored, and warehoused by the U.S. Government. Thanks to the revelations of Edward Snowden, we know that this show you are listening to is subject to recording and monitoring via the NSA.
Another point frequently glossed over by the alternative media is the consideration of the police in the U.S. as being "militarized". Keep in mind, many media hosts have never served a day in either law enforcement, the military, or both. I'll go more into detail and ask the hard questions that the media ignores in regards to the police throughout the U.S. Just imagine yourself put in their shoes on the thin blue line.
Thanks for listening in!
