This Week's Lesson: "Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice" - (1 Samuel 15:22).
Any relationship requires and understanding of terms. A healthy relationship will recognize the obligations and expectations of both friends. A marriage is similar. However, our relationship with God is unique. We follow Him on His terms. We have nothing to offer other than ourselves. When we make this offering, we recognize that He has expectations of us. His commands must be obeyed as we submit to His governance of our lives. We live out our lives lives according to His plans, not our own.
In this week;s lesson, we will see that King Saul failed to recall the importance of obedience, and suffered as a results. We are wise to learn from his sad example, remembering that obedience brings peace, fulfillment, and blessing.
1 Samuel 1:1
Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:
2 And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
3 And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the Lord of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the Lord, were there.
4 And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:
5 But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the Lordhad shut up her womb.
6 And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because theLord had shut up her womb.

Bishop T. D. Jakes shares concepts from the Biblical stories of King Saul and the eventual King David. He talks about serving and ducking. The basis for Bishop Jakes teaching, on this show, is found in the Old Testament scripture..
2 Samuel 5:24 - And let it be, when you hear the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall bestir yourself: for then shall the LORD go out before you, to smite the host of the Philistines.
Other concepts he shares in this short talk:
Don't neglect the gift that God gave you to serve where you're serving now.
King David in Power - He never forgot to serve.
Values formed in the youth matter.
Your choices matter.
Being Seen or Be Connected
What you choose is what you value.
Leaders see the big picture.
King David prayed alot.
Are you fighting battles that are not your fight.
Some things out to leave broken.
David attributes his success to God's permission.
