IBM toxic pool defies cleanup
TOM WILBER, Special to the Press & Sun-Bulletin 1:37 p.m. EDT April 5, 2015
A remedy for a concentrated pool of solvents directly under the manufacturing site where at least 1,500 people still work may take years to find.
(Photo: Jeff Platsky / staff photo)
The contaminated hot spot lies under an area the size of eight village blocks.
Situated over and near the source area, and blocking access to cleanup, are dozens of buildings.
To date, nearly 70,000 gallons of solvent %u2014 more than 40 tons %u2014 have been pumped from the ground.
ENDICOTT – After 35 years, IBM Corp. contractors have stanched the flow of industrial solvents into a commercial and residential district in the heart of the village, but they have yet to find a solution for the source of the problem at the company's former flagship manufacturing plant.
Officials recently reported that efforts to intercept and remove the subterranean flow of hazardous chemicals coming from the industrial complex — now owned by Huron Real Estate Associates — have been successful. Consequently, health risks to a nearby neighborhood have been eliminated.
Yet they have no remedy for a concentrated pool of solvents directly under the manufacturing site, where at least 1,500 people still work. Full story: http://www.pressconnects.com/story/news/local/2015/04/05/ibm-tce-issues/25302109/

My name is Thomas K Mensah, popularly called T K Mensah. I am a missionary working with the Bridge Of Hope church in Nashville, in the Youth Mentorship and Homeless ministries. I received the Lord into my heart as a young man and became an Evangelist in rural ministries especially in church planting and discipleship not too long afterwards. I have a commission to plant churches in the western region of Ghana which is the pick for Islamic influence in this West African country with the least Islamic influence in Africa. Presently I have planted two churches one in the city and in the village called Centuries Church International. Just returned from missions in Ghana and the experience is very thrilling seeing the love of God touching the people. I have plans to build school for pregnant girls who get sacked from school due to the pregnancy and an after school programe to help student complete their homework especially in Science, Maths and English.

Show Topic: We told the story of DAYTOP from its founding through it's eventual closure and merger with Samaritan Village, to become Samaritan DAYTOP. (See our podcasts DAYTOP Parts 1, 2, & 3) There still appears to be however some unconfronted, and unvented feelings, thoughts, and opinions, as to the cause of the demise of DAYTOP as an insititution and a standard bearer in the substance abuse treatment field. We'll see if we can separate some fact from fiction.

Today on "It's My House" we shall continue on our "40 Acres" series. Yesterday we made people aware of our Podcaster's Solar Village.............today we want to mention one of the benefits to becoming a member of our community. That benefit being that you will have access to "podcasting social capital banking". Podcasters build up on an individual basis "Social Capital".....which is one of the best ways if not the best way to finance any particular project that you need funded.
Social Capital can come in many different forms such as:
Cash needed to finance what ever is needed
Podcasters have "access" to the above items and more via their "social capital networks". "Social Capital Banking" is the PROCESS that one can use to get "access" to what you need.
By becoming a member of the Podcasters Solar Village..........U will have access online and offline to resources you did not have alone.
