DAZZLING, INVENTIVE, AND SUPER MELODIC TRUMPETER!
Offering up a fresh and exhilarating vibe with his full length debut Nothing Between Us,
the trumpet sound on this smooth jazz album is playful and dancy, sometimes reflective & intimate, but often peaceful and becomes a unique expression of the musician, rounding it off with a unique hip hop smooth jazz tune.
Trumpeter and composer Sam Hankins draws on a powerhouse resume as a music educator and R&B/jazz sideman that includes multiple awards as a middle school bandleader and performances with numerous legendary artists, including Al Jarreau, Clark Terry, The O’Jays, The Temptations, The Dells, The Impressions, Aretha Franklin and the Glenn Miller Big Band.

The Legendary Soul Man SAM MOORE, voted one of the 100 top pop voices of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine, joins bluegrass group Nu-Blu as a special guest on their upcoming single release "Jesus and Jones" - a song that pays tribute to the late George Jones.
Moore, who had been invited personally by George before he passed away, performed at what became Jones' tribute show Playin' Possum: The Final No Show in November of 2013. Sam took no time to agree to participate in recording this song. "I've been a fan of George's music for a long, long time and was fortunate enough that we called each other friends," says Moore. "This song honors him and says what we all have felt about him."
"We absolutely love this song and its message," says Nu-Blu's Carolyn Routh. "We played the demo for George's widow Nancy Jones and she loved it. With her encouragement we recorded it and just knew we wanted to add a guest vocalist to the recording. Then we thought back to the November tribute show and remembered it was Sam Moore who had just brought the house down. You could see the love he had for George."
Over the years, Sam has crossed over from soul, the genre his hit song "Soul Man" named, to rhythm & blues, jazz, big band, pop, and country. He was nominated for an ACM, and two CMAs for his collaboration with Conway Twitty on "Rainy Night In Georgia" on the Country, Rhythm & Blues album. Their video is considered a classic and one of the top country duets of all time.
Robert Brewer aka "Football Rob" weighs in on the controversial statements made by former Super Bowl champion head coach Tony Dungy towards St. Louis Rams defensive end Michael Sam. According to Tampa Tribune reporter Ira Kaufman, Dungy stated that he would not have drafted Michael Sam due to the distraction he may cause to a team because of his sexual orientation. Dungy later released a statement to further clarify his comments.
Frequent guest contributor Gary "Kool" Ayd of MediaAidEntertainment.com also stops by to discuss this touchy situation.

The St. Louis Rams knew a media circus was coming when they drafted Michael Sam, but they didn't expect it to escalate so quickly or be jump started by Tony Dungy. Sports Page host Pat Whitehurst is joined by Scott Poppen and Stephen Sheehan to discuss the prospect of Sam making the Rams and the roles the media plays in causing these distractions.
Fantasy football draft strategies along with value picks and potential busts will also be discussed. Join the conversation and Be Seen, Be Heard, Be a Fan!
Tony Dungy created a firestorm this week when he told the world he would not have drafted Michael Sam. He claims he was being unfairly called anti-gay, despite holes in his story. Do you think Dungy's comments were based on his opposition to the gay "lifestyle"? We'll discuss.
Also, the New York Giants hired David Tyree, who has opposed gay marriage in the past and said that gay people can be turned straight. Tyree hasn't yet shared his current views with the public. Does he need to?
Sam is a comedian and social justice advocate, and the guy behind "It’s Pronounced Metrosexual", a one-man comedy show and blog about snap judgments, identity, and oppression (but in a totally funny way). He travels the country performing the show at colleges and universities, and writes articles about social justice, gender, and sexuality when he’s not on the road. http://itspronouncedmetrosexual.com
Sam and Karen Rayne will be co-hosting "S.E.X. -- an evening of laughing, learning and lasciviousness." It will be a night of classy debauchery that is part comedy show, part lively Q&A, complete lasciviousness in Austin, Texas.
Shows are July 11-13 from 9-11pm. Here is a link: http://haveyouseensex.com
Sam Deep is not affiliated with the MSOL program, but he has been invoved in the same mission as MSOL for many years - training and raising up a new generation of leaders. Sam joins John today to talk about his life's work and mission, and his Leadership Academy that trains leaders in corporations and in open seminars all over Western Pennsylvania. Here is Sam's bio information from his own website:
Sam Deep launched his leadership development career in 1986 after 15 years of teaching and administration at the University of Pittsburgh. Since then, he has spoken in front of more than 200,000 people, his 16 internationally published books have sold well over one million copies in 14 languages, and his last four audio tapes were featured on USAirway's EntertainAir.
Sam's ideas about management have been quoted in newspapers and magazines throughout the country as well as on CNN-FN, CNBC, and WGN Radio Chicago. He served as an adjunct professor of leadership and strategy at the Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business from 1998 to 2006. For eight years, he hosted "Following the Leader," a weekly radio program on KQV in Pittsburgh that focused on building better corporate leaders. His current consulting services include executive coaching, leadership development, team building, and strategic planning. His Sam Deep Leadership Academy equips emerging leaders for future responsibilities.
I will be discussing and analyzing Tony Dungy's comments concerning Michael Sam. He said he wouldn't have drafted Sam basically because of the distraction of having an openly gay player in the locker room. He also does not think the St. Louis Rams are ready for that media storm for employing a gay player. Chris Loupe and The Yard/HBCU Sports' Duane Nash will join me in discussing Dungy's thinking in making those comments. Does Dungy have a point or was he merely being homophobic?
