  • Happy Hour With The Crew: How do we really feel about the $20 bill

    in Radio

Tubman, an African-American and a Union spy (or was she ) during the Civil War, would bump Jackson — a white man known as much for his persecution of Native Americans as for his war heroics and advocacy for the common man — to the back of the $20, in some reduced image along with the White House. Tubman would be the first woman so honored on paper currency since Martha Washington’s portrait briefly graced the $1 silver certificate in the late 19th century. While Hamilton would remain on the $10, and Abraham Lincoln on the $5, images of women would be added to the back of both — in keeping with Mr. Lew’s intent “to bring to life” the national monuments depicted there. The picture of the Treasury building on the back of the $10 bill would be replaced with a depiction of a 1913 march in support of women’s right to vote that ended at the building, along with portraits of five suffrage leaders: Lucretia Mott, Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Alice Paul and Susan B. Anthony, who in more recent years was on an unpopular $1 coin until minting ceased. How do we really feel about it?

Please welcome Serena Dyer to The Best Ever You Show.

Serena Dyer has co-authored a book with her father, Dr. Wayne Dyer, titled Don’t Die With Your Music Still In You about her experience growing up with spiritual parents (released June of 2014).

The book is a daughter’s response to her father’s wisdom and provides readers a glimpse into what life was like growing up with seven brothers and sisters -- and Dr. Wayne Dyer as a father. Serena is a contributor to Huffington Post, Mind Body Green and Positively Positive where she shares stories on varying subjects, including meditation, travel, the spiritual journey and life with her brothers and sisters. She regularly appeared on stage with her father at Hay House events. She is also a featured speaker at spiritual, motivational and wellness events around the United States. Her subject matter covers a wide range of topics, but she always seeks to share her personal spiritual perspective in a way that encourages introspection and personal growth. While completing her master’s degree at the University of Miami, Serena was moved by startling statistics concerning the global tragedy of human trafficking. Although most of her work is done privately, Serena does add her voice to raise awareness via the charity Stop Child Trafficking. Kreative Kulture Presents "Put Some RESPECK on IT!"

    in Entertainment

Don't you put Baby in the corner!!!! Birdman had a temper tantrum on his visit with The Breakfast Club that went viral shortly after it touched down on the internet. And, we loved it! Anthony Hamilton and The Hamiltones hit the note on the head by shortly releasing a video of them singing "Put some RESPECK on it," in perfect harmony...Respeck is the new thing!! Keep the memes in rotation, people!

On Kreative Kulture this week, we are taking it back to the old school R-E-S-P-E-C-T (Thank you Aretha Franklin for successfully teaching everyone in the world, other than Birdman, how to spell that!)  by honoring some of the people we respect, talking about who (and what) taught us to respect, self-respect (or lack thereof), and what doesn't deserve respect. Like saying, "Respeck."

There are awesome people in our lives and in the poetry/arts community that deserve respect. And, yes, we are going to make fun of Birdman, but, we are gonna show some respect to the people who deserve it, play tracks from well-respected artists we know, and discuss respect in all of it's forms.

The Mic is still open to anyone who wants to spit a piece or promote an event you are interested in! Call in. Tune in. Rock w us!
