VoicesOTEarth: Sacred Sex & Magick - authors Dorothy Abrams & Shawn Marie Jones

    in Spirituality

On this week's Voices of the Earth program I welcome two of the authors of Sacred Sex and Magick, Dorothy Abrams and Shawn Marie Jones. They are members of the Web PATH Center in Lyons, NY, a pagan church and community.  Their reason for creating the book is explained this way, "“Men and women in the Web wrote this book to share common and uncommon knowledge about the magick of human sexuality. Magick and sex are sacred.”  A recent review (link below) included this comment: "[It is written] with honesty, using examples from their own lives and their own experiences. It is a brave and much-needed exploration of the use of sex and sexual energy within pagan spiritual practices."
Our hour together is certain to be a fascinating discussion of a topic not well understood but much needed in the world today. Please join us for a sensitive presentation to which we welcome your questions and comments.

You can find out details of the book here:

January Jones - Music by Sarantos

    in Music

    About the Artist

Sarantos' passion for music began before he knew what the word passion meant. He began writing lyrics as a small child while "people watching" in his mom and pop's family diner. That is to say, when he wasn't working and helping his mom and pop at the diner as a cook, dishwasher, waiter or cashier! In those days, he always had a pad of paper, loose-leaf sheet, or even a napkin to feverishly write down lyrics. As technology evolved, his iPhone, iPad, and computer have gladly become the recipients of those lyrics. Do you have any idea how long it took to digitize all those songs??

Sarantos love of music is profound. His lyrics express his love of people and the world around him. While life is fraught with many challenges, it also offers many blessings. His songs span an entire spectrum of emotion. And lest he take himself too seriously, Sarantos has a pretty wicked sense of humor. You may recognize this in some of his more lighthearted lyrics, facebook or twitter posts, and even in a random music video or two...

Whether a particular song or lyric is deep, serious or lighthearted, most people would agree that it is something they can relate to as people of this planet.

Sacred Sunday~I Corinthians Chapter 5/50 Shades of Corinth

    in Christianity

Fifty Shades of Corinth. Speaking of doing bad stuff, Paul's been hearing some rumors. There's some steamy stuff going on in the bedroom, and he doesn't like it. He's heard that some guy is getting it on with his stepmom. Gross. It also happens to be against Jewish and Roman law. Paul wishes he were there in person so he could help, but never fear, all, he's there in Spirit. And he has so passed judgment on this guy in Spirit. This dude should be forced to live the rest of his life outside of the church. Basically, they're gonna throw him to Satan. Maybe if he suffers enough, God will save him in the end. Who knows though?  Paul is extremely annoyed at the Corinthians' lax attitude about this stuff. Don't they know that even a little yeast can make bread dough rise? Translation: one bad person can ruin a whole church. It's time to clean those mixing bowls and start a new batch of dough. We're living in Passover times, y'all! Jesus is the lamb that has been slaughtered, so start acting like it! Paul thinks they need to be celebrating with some nice pure unleavened bread, not letting that evil yeast creep into their midst. Harsh words, Paul. Paul says that he wrote to the church before and told them not to have anything to do with immoral people. Of course, they misunderstood this. It would be kind of impossible not to associate with anyone who had a history of doing bad things.  What he meant was, don't associate with other Christians who are immoral. Oh, good clarification. How do you know a fellow Christian is super-bad like this? Well, are they sexually immoral? Are they greedy? Are they an idolater? Do they verbally abuse others? Are they drunks? Are they thieves? Then you can just cross them off your list. Get them out of the church. Judge the heck out of them. (Hey, wait, Paul… didn't you just tell the Corinthians not to judge a little bit ago? Oh, never mind…) www.shmoop.com
