Occupy National Gathering is a yearly gathering of Occupiers, supporters and coalition groups. Occupy’s third national gathering, NatGat 2014 or NatGat3, will take place July 31 – August 3 in Sacramento, CA. Occupy Sacramento is busy rounding up venues for 4 days of teach-ins, skillshares, workshops, open spaces and actions.
Each year a collective of occupiers forms to support the host city and participate in planning and organizing the gathering, working in autonomous subgroups and projects and coming together for reportbacks and planning as the national gathering working group, or NGWG. The NGWG2014 comprises Occupy Sacramento on the ground, and Occupiers and allies from far and wide online, hopefully soon to include you!
The working groups (about 100 occupiers so far) are busy laying the tracks, and need Occupy to drive the train and bring it home. Let us know what Occupy would like to see and bring to the Occupy National Gathering!
In addition to planning the event on the ground, a few special projects are underway that can use your energy and participation:

Putting an initiative on the ballot can be dangerous to your freedom as a number of collective operators have found out in Santa Ana. In a series of raids, 42 people were arrested over a 2-day period for operating store-front collectives that violate the city’s ban.
Patients collected enough signature for an initiative that would rescind the ban and allow for a limited number of licensed collectives. The city responded with its own initiative that is much more restrictive allowing operation in only two industrial zones. The city then allocated an additional $500,000 for police operations to close dispensaries.
Hearings have been contentious with a group called Latino Health Access strenuously opposing the collectives at city council meetings. Kandice Hawes, one of the petition organizers and a member of OCNORML, will review what has happened, take a jaundice view of the city’s actions and explain their plan to overcome local opposition to get the patient’s initiative passed.
The second part of the show will feature a live session from Sacramento with patients who participated in ASAs Citizen Lobby Day. Hear about the “touchy” morning session on SB 1262 with bill author Sen. Lou Correa as well as first-hand accounts of their visits to the offices of their state assembly member and state senator.

Timothy “One Gone” Poole started as a DJ in high school. He had got his start and earned his reputation by spinning music for house parties of classmates at his and other schools. He then began to host events of his own. By 1997, he become the Head DJ and Program Director at 100.1 The Bomb, which was a pirate station. But his work stirred the pot, and showed the major corporate radio stations that there was enough space for a second urban radio station in the city of Sacramento at that time. By 1999, DJ One Gone and two partners established 100% Entertainment. A record and promotions company. He has worked with much of the local talent in and around Sacramento. From his artists like, Ill Logik., Money Green , Flo, Spoken, and the Rookies to Vets, to others like Luni Coleone, C-Bo, Marvaless, Keak Tha Sneak, Lace Leno, Squeak, and Lobo. Later that same year, DJ One Gone put on an event called the “West Coast Freaknic”. He hosted as well as disc jockeyed the music for the event. That same year, DJ One Gone began to disc jockey for 92.9 The V. He did this until late 2001. Since then DJ One Gone has hosted several events as well as worked for many individuals, non-profits, and corporations. He has worked with W.E.A.V.E., which is a non-profit organization that helps battered women. He has also disc jockeyed for the Joe Serna Center, and from 1996 to 2002, he was the only DJ hired for all the The Women’s Civic Improvement Center events. In 2006, DJ One Gone and his record label, began hosting a fishing derby, where he would host the event, spin all the music, and fish as well. It has been growing annually. He is a mentor in the community. An avid fisherman, and a business- man.
