Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes profilific author Russell Blake. Here's what Russell has to say about writing and pubishing: "Besides a burning desire to tell a story and a rudimentary knowledge of craft, beginning (and not-so-beginning) authors need to have the three Ds: Dedication. Determination. Discipline."there are some other things self-pubbed authors must have, such as having the discipline to divide your literary time into writing and marketing. I counsel 75% writing, 25% marketing, because that’s what works for me. You may decide you prefer to operate different. But remember that books don’t sell themselves, and that the book selling business is as tough a business as any on earth. So if you believe the level of success you desire can happen without you allocating reasoned effort into marketing your wares, good luck with that. There are far too many authors out there investing time and effort into getting visibility for you to succeed with a strategy that basically amounts to hoping for a lightning strike. Russell K Hewett Jr from Blackforce MMA opposes him. He steps in with a record of 5 wins and 2 losses - 2 wins via submission and 3 by T/KO. High pressure and technical grit define Hewett on the feet and the mat in any fight. His dedication to martial arts surpasses his time in the cage, and Hewett plans to once again overpower the opposition en route to the title.
On August 2nd, these two monsters collide in Columbia for the Conflict MMA amateur Heavyweight title. Two will enter, but only one can emerge champion. Don't miss Davis Vs Hewett Jr, going down in two weeks as Conflict returns to the Main Event Fitness Center for another action packed installment of the Fight Club Series!
Tune in as the Sistas chat with Russell Stevensen, author of For the Cause of Righteousness: A Global History of Black and Mormonism, 1830 - 2013. Russell's newest work seeks to explore the story of blacks and Mormonism through an intimate lens, focusing not only on the experiences of church leaders but also the ordinary Latter-day Saint: the day laborer nervous about his African ancestry, the West African woman establishing her own ‘Mormon’ congregation, the Pat Boone-loving Mormon missionary in Africa and the Black Panther musing on the Mormons’ wasted potential. Robert Orsi has argued that religion ‘comes into being in an ongoing, dynamic relationship with realities of everyday life.’ Race was both a spoken and lived experience. The Mormon people witnessed it, felt it, and absorbed it. But for the Mormon people, racism was also a conscious decision—and one that exacted a heavy toll during their epoch in the wilderness.
This week, good buddy (and award-stealer) Wayne Dupree, the sensei of #TeamNinja and founder / creator of We Are America Radio (@WAARadio) was among those who joined FreedomWorks' Deneen Borelli at a conference held across from NAACP Convention in Las Vegas.
Borelli took matters into her own hands after being snubbed by the NAACP for the second year in a row. Borelli, sought to address the organization for their annual meeting, but was “ignored.” So, she along with Wayne and other prominent black conservatives like Katrina Pierson, Lesli Brower, Brenda Flank, and the Rev. C.L. Bryant, held their own event in the same hotel, at the same time, as the NAACP convention.
Wayne will join Brooklyn GOP Radio for a first-hand account of what transpired when the two conventions came face-to-face. Plus, the usual hijinks fromt he crew and... Buffoon of the Week!
