At this point, with the schedule as full as it is, we should just dispense with the smart-alec remarks and sarcasm and just tell you what you should expect during the show. But we won't do that, because we're mouthy. Still, there's at least one fight going on this weekend that's about as can't miss as they get, and that needs to be addressed! This week on TQBR Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and The Queensberry Rules' Patrick Connor will eagerly preview Lucas Matthysse vs. Ruslan Provodnikov, and likely with the masculinity of 17 wolverines. Terence Crawford fights Thomas Dulorme on the Matthysse-Provodnikov HBO undercard, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. makes his comeback from a hiatus to fight Andrzej Fonfara on Showtime. Oh yeah, and there was another Premier Boxing Champions card on NBC last weekend featuring Danny Garcia vs. Lamont Peterson and more. Thanks for tuning in!

In the main event, the Siberian Rocky, Ruslan Provodnikov (23-2 with 16 KOs) defended his junior welterweight belt against the undefeated Chris Algieri (19-0 with 8 KOs). Chris Algieri got off the canvas twice in round one, his right eye became a swollen mess, and yet he pulled off the improbable yesterday, beating Ruslan Provodnikov to win the WBO junior welterweight title at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn via split decision.
Two judges scored the fight 114-112 for Algieri, meaning they had it eight rounds to four for the challenger, while the third had it 117-109 for Provodnikov, a 9-3 score in rounds for the defending titleholder. while HBO's Steve Weisfeld had it 117-109 for Provodnikov. Today we will take calls as always to see how you the viewers seen this fight? We will touch on news and notes and bring you the best 3 hours of your life this fathers day sunday. so happy Fathers day to all you dads, grab a beer and join us as we talk some boxing. remember we are always looking for new writers if your interested email us at email@example.com and we will be happy to set something up. Oh, boxing. Oh, controversy. Funky happenings seem to follow boxing around like some type of Remora, feeding off the crumbs that fall by the wayside, sometimes consuming it whole. By the way, a Remora is one of those fish that kicks it with sharks all the time. That said, we have a new WBO junior welterweight belt-holder, and discussion of the fight that produced it is in order. Some can't seem to grasp the injustice of Chris Algieri's split decision win over Ruslan Provodnikov, others feel it was a close fight and the decision went the correct way. Bad Left Hook's James Foley and Patrick Connor of Queensberry Rules will weigh in with their absolute final, totally legit and 100% dead on opinions, which are certified awesome by minutes of sobriety. Also up for grabs: Demetrius Andrade's win over Brian Rose, and this coming weekend's card which includes Robert Guerrero vs Yoshihiro Kamegai, Gary Russell Jr vs Vasyl Lomachenko and Devon Alexander vs Jesus Soto Karass. Thanks for tuning in!

Inside of the ring, objectively, it doesn't get a whole lot better than last weekend. Between Matthysse-Provodnikov and Terence Crawford vs Thomas Dulorme on HBO and Andrzej Fonfara vs Julio Cesar Chavez on Showtime, there was mayhem, dirty tactics, drama, classy boxing, blood and, not to be overlooked, tremendous heart shown. Unfortunately so much of the great stuff was overshadowed by an ill-advised social media choice from Sergey Kovalev. This week on TQBR Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and The Queensberry Rules' Patrick Connor cover it all, from top to bottom -- including this coming weekend's Wladimir Klitschko vs Bryant Jennings...whatever it is. Thanks for tuning in!

When it rains, it pours. Except in this case, said downpour is a good thing, as it comes in the form of really sickening action to close out the rest of the year. The latest installment of "Hello, this is 2013 calling, boxing fan, and you're welcome" was Ruslan Provodnikov doing battle with Mike Alvarado this past weekend to the tune of a stoppage after the 10th round in favor of the Russian. That exquisite gorefest would probably be enough to carry a two-hour show, but James Foley of BadLeftHook.com and Patrick Connor of Queensberry-Rules.com will also preview Bernard Hopkins vs. Karo Murat and Peter Quillin vs. Gabe Rosado, among other musings. Joining the show this week is Kelsey McCarson, writer for TheSweetScience.com and BleacherReport.com, and member of the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board. Thanks for tuning in!
