A long time vet of MMA and a friend of the show, Roxanne Modafferi was a part of the historic first female cast of the UFC's "Ultimate Fighter". Modafferi had trained and lived in Japan for nearly a decade before making her way to Vegas to train full time.
We will talk to Modafferi about the show, her fight future, and her new fight home at Syndicate MMA.
Breanna Armstrong, managing editor of "Ultimate MMA Magazine" will be co-host with our regular host MarQ.
Today I am very excited to be joined by Roxanne from Earthship Seattle Check out their website at www.EarthshipSeattle.org. Hope you can join in!
"Roxanne Fonder Reeve is a sparkly urban bohemian whose passions are communicating, cooking and creating community. Building a studio out of trash and at a cost of zero is the latest and largest project in her quest for Love, Truth, and Beauty. She lives with two of her three splendidly weird children in South Seattle."
The vision of the current project can be found on the facebook description, which reads
One hundred twenty square feet of urban construction, sustainably, beautifully built from trash. Follow the project from design to completion.
In the heart of Seattle, the neighborhood of Columbia City has an amazing project happening in the fall of 2014. On a private lot, we're building a small shed out of Seattle's trash.
We envision a community resource, showing school children what can be created with things that would otherwise be thrown away.
It all started at a meetup of Earthship enthusiasts in July. Jamie said, "we need a place to build a proof of concept project in the city." Roxanne said, "I have a house in the city! Let's do it." And so it began...
If you'd like some background on Radically Sustainable Building techniques, we recommend you watch Garbage Warrior, an engaging documentary on the passion of Mike Reynolds, for creating a completely different paradigm for human living.

“Genocide to destroy their existence in a way that they can no longer continue as a people…genocide is having the attempt even if they don’t succeed.” Roxanne Ortiz
There is not a person born in the baby boomer generation that has not been around the pungent smell of weed. Whether you inhaled or didn’t whether you imbibed or lied about it or ran for the hills after the film reefer Madness the influence of the national and global psyche about marijuana is prevalent.
In the next few years the global sale, distribution and consumption of marijuana will be an out in the open multibillion dollar business--greater than the sale of any substance--possibly outselling wheat and soybeans.
But this is not your Grandmother’s marijuana. The weed that will be produced for the masses will be debilitating and addictive. What we hear about is the mom and pop grow operations and the designer weed sold in boutique upscale shops, but that ain’t the kind that will be sold to those who need a joint for a dollar.
Because in the coming years they system will need people to be asleep and if not asleep then lethargic and unengaged. They need weed and any other substance for the next phase of control.
So why aren't we talking about low sperm count, genetic alteration of potency and the I-don't-give-a damn-attitude that comes with smoking weed?
I know there are many people out there like me in the baby boomer generation that will balk at the idea of weed as a component of mass mental massage. But... let’s look if this tactics has been used before so at least we can be informed and not smoke the pipe they have planed for us without knowing what's in it.
An Ashanti proverb says:
"When the cock is drunk, he forgets about the hawk."
So how many drunk cocks will we have in the next decade?
Yes, you are correct - you have seldom seen the word "Favorite" in the title of the show :) The most versatile Renaissance Man that we're featuring is the reason. Besides being so staggeringly talented, Slim is also a friend. And it's ALWAYS a pleasure to welcome him back!
Baltimore born and bred, Slim (aka Tim Camponeschi) became smitten with music at the age of five. That's when Dad took him to see "The Five Pennies" with Danny Kaye and Louis Armstrong. So strong was the inspiration that Slim took trumpet lessons for ten years. And he taught himself both guitar and piano. Singing all the while. Oh, thank God for THAT! If you know our Hunk's voice, then you have heard Audible Silk. Dean Martin without the dry martini :-D
Seriously, this profile could wax poetic from now until showtime - that's how cool of a background we're discussing. From the first gig, singing Beatles' songs at the six grade graduation - to his middle school band, Momma Max - to his education at the Peabody Institute - to the Motown office of Roxanne Gordy in New York City where he signed his published deal (and a song on Angie Bofill's debut CD!). There's more: Stiff Records (yes) signed him and "Boot Camp" had two of the 100 videos first seen on MTV. A re-recording of songs originally done by another artist put Slim Man on the map - so did Bona Fide, the group he founded in the late 90's. "X-Ray Hip" was a number one song that still get played all over the globe. And Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn will never forget Our Guy - Slim was the one who discovered him via the nationwide Marlboro search.
TV, screenplays, authentic Italian cooking - whaddya want?! A new Kickstarter will launch his cookbook (days left!) and a BIG charitable event happens SOON - please welcome our Friend, Slim Man!
