This week we will be interviewing one of the most progressive, effective, and productive young leaders of today. This leader is none other than Rosa Clemente. We will be featuring Rosa Clemente this Wednesday May 20, 2009 from 3:30 PM until 4:30 pm (Eastern Time).

Rosa Clemente recently ran as the Green Party's 2008 candidate for Vice President of the United States with Green Party Presidential Candidate, Cynthia McKinney. Rosa Alicia Clemente is a community organizer, radio journalist (WBAI 99.5 FM in New York City), Hip-Hop activist, and the first Latina in US history to run for Vice President.

Ms. Clemente has delivered workshops, lectures, and commentary for over fifteen years. In 1995, she developed Know Thy Self Productions, a people of color speakers' bureau. Seeing a need for young people of color to be heard and taken seriously, she began presenting workshops and lectures at universities, high schools, community centers, and prisons. She has presented at over 400 colleges, conferences, town halls, rallies, and international conferences. Know Thy Self Productions includes an expanded college speakers bureau which has produced four major Hip-Hop activism tours and consults on issues of media justice, voter engagement amongst youth, and youth development.

Born and raised in the South Bronx and Elmsford, New York, Rosa Alicia Clemente is a graduate of the University of Albany and Cornell University. Ms. Clemente's academic work has covered national liberation struggles in the US, with a specific focus on the Young Lords Party, the Black Panther Party and Black Liberation Army, Afro-Latino identity and politics, media justice, and African-American and Latino relations.

Nabwic Talks with: FIU Student Aretha Fung-A-Wing

    in Women

My name is Aretha Fung-A-Wing, I was born in Paramaribo, Suriname but raised in South Florida. I have an Associates degree in Business Administration from Broward College. I am currently a junior at Florida International University and I am pursing a Bachelors in Construction Management. I am very much interested in project development and the inner workings of planning the construction of any structure, I'd like to be apart of the business aspect of the industry. My dream is to build an NFL stadium and to become the first African American woman to own a professional football team and stadium in the National Football League. I am a firm believer in "speaking it into existence," as my faith in God is my guiding force and in everything I do. I would love to be apart of the greater good and give back to my community by creating jobs, educating our youth, and so much more. Success isn't contained to financial wealth, it's not when an individual has accomplished his/her goals, but it's when you've broken barriers and with a pure heart have helped others succeed. Being successful is not being selfish.

Create Your Bliss w/Nika Annon Interviews Anyes Cartry

    in Self Help

Anyes Cartry is originally from France, where she studied psychology and linguistics at La Sorbonne  University, Paris before moving to California in 1989. Her urge to move to California to discover alternative psychological methods to heal people in distress was in great part fueled by her witnessing of her elder brother’s psychological suffering; he eventually committed suicide in 1992. Having been too young at the time to be of significant help, she was determined to continue exploring the spirit-mind-heart-body relationship to help people find more balance, harmony, well-being, communication and purpose in their lives.

She has helped many clients come back to balance and experience a significant increase in well-being through the combined benefits of Carl Jung’s alchemical processes, and Milton Erickson and David Quigley’s hypnotherapy techniques (healing through your own subconscious mind).

Anyes is presently part of the trainer's track at the Alchemical Institute of Hypnotherapy in Santa Rosa, CA where she has been assisting in the training for the last 6 years, and continues to expand her education with advanced workshops, including prenatal and perinatal trauma and NLP.  Anyes has a practice in Penn Valley, another one in Nevada City and is also available a few days a month - at Spa Therapy, Yuba City.

She also gives phone sessions at an international level in France, Belgium, Canada and South America. www.2healyourself.com
