     In Washington, D.C., we are fortunate to have several performing musicians that are internationally known and they direct Jazz programs at Universities in the area.  This evening, I will interview Allyn Johnson who is the director of The University of the District of Columbia Jazz Studies Program.  In addition, we will listen to tunes from his recent release, The Light That Grew Among Us. He is a native Washingtonian with many talents.  Not only does he play the piano, he is an educator, composer, arranger and producer.  He is one of the most sought after musicians in the jazz community.  As a result, he divides his time between two cities, appearing at the Blue Note, Village Vanguard, and Birdland in New York, and Blues Alley and Bohemian Caverns in his home town.  Join us this evening at Jazz Notes where jazz lives!

    Kindred Killers: A Stanford Carter Murder Mystery ~


      Homicide Detective Stanford Carter uses Zen meditation to deal with the gruesome crimes of humanity. But his composure is severely tested when an unfaithful husband and stripper are not only murdered but showcased for their immoral lives. To test his mettle further, department policy is jeopardizing his romance with his CSI colleague Jill Seacrest. Marrying colleagues is prohibited and Carter must either end his romance or have Jill put in for transfer. The private detective hired by the family of the victims becomes the only suspect. Carter theorizes someone with knowledge in law enforcement is responsible for leaving clean but disturbing crime scenes. Further investigation leads him to believe a pair of killers might be working as serials. As Jill goes undercover to investigate the PI's social life, Carter fears he might not only fail to stop the vigilante killings but lose the love of his life.

    On July 27,15 Rosa's  Resources host a workshop for beauticians in Bklyn at Diana's Event Space on, Rogers Ave. The educator Marion Council had the stylists at edge of their seats.  Feedbacks heard here are from the attendees that wanted to give their views on the class. Charito Cisneros from the NY Cosmotology Chamber was also in attendance to upgrade stylists on new regulations in the beauty industry.

    Paris Singer was born in Brussels, Belgium. He has lived in the U.K. and in various places in Spain, where he currently resides. At university, he studied English law and Spanish law, but didn't like it. He then studied translation and didn't like it, either.


    Currently, he teaches English in the south of Spain. He is told he has far too many interests. A few are basketball, tennis, swimming, playing his old guitar, learning Japanese, painting, reading, cooking...(See? Too many). Not a day goes by, however, where he doesn't write something, be it under a palm tree or on a bench at a bus stop somewhere.

Afro-Brazilian education and performance,  and other dance styles. Courtney has excelled in performance and teaching skills. In 2006 Courtney graduated from UC Davis. She earned a graduate degree in 2010. She led choreography and performances at Super Sonic. She enjoyed the privilege leading the samba school in major parades like the San Diego Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp and the San Francisco Carnival. Her mission is to educate people about the history and the beauty of Brazilian culture through dance, music, and performance. She is currently teaching children, adults, and Senior citizens basic dance steps and advanced level movement. She hopes to prepare them to participate in shows and competitions. Courtney hopes to establish a permanent cultural facility where all Brazilian dance forms can be taught. Her infectious love and knowledge of other cultures comes through in a strong way.
