When They Knew God; Romans 1:16-25 Part 1

    in Religion

Romans 1:16-25...For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, WHEN THEY KNEW GOD, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

Music, Shakespeare, and Romans 1:8 (Everyday Thanks #13)

    in Self Help

Today, I am thankful for music.

Our quote of thanks is from Shakespeare. He said, "Nothing is more honorable than a grateful heart."

Our Bible verse of thanks is Romans 1:8. It reads, "First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world."

When They Knew God; Romans 1:16-25 Part 2

    in Religion

21 They knew God but did not praise and thank him for being God. Instead, their thoughts were pointless, and their misguided minds were plunged into darkness. 22 While claiming to be wise, they became fools. 23 They exchanged the glory of the immortal God for statues that looked like mortal humans, birds, animals, and snakes.

24 For this reason God allowed their lusts to control them. As a result, they dishonor their bodies by sexual perversion with each other. 25 These people have exchanged God’s truth for a lie. So they have become ungodly and serve what is created rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen!

Romans 1 - When a nation goes antichrist

    in Christianity

Romans 1 gives a progressive list of the way nations go astray.  The list is terrifyingly accurate in its descripition of post-modern America.  Step by step, America, which once openly advocated for the inherent value of Christian morals and had President's lauding the value of the Bible, has descended by big steps and little to the very precipice of moral bankruptcy and the judgment of God.  Abortion, gay rights, imperious elements in the government, fornication, adultery, greed, all of these issues describe America.  Is there still a remnant and what can this remnant do to help?

Bible Study in Romans 1:24 - God's Wrath Against Sexual & Fleshly Sin

    in Religion

Today we continue our bible study in Romans 1, beginning in verse 24 through verse 32.

This is a very serious section of scripture where we see the loving God of scripture, reveal His wrath against all the sins of the flesh.  Wrath against those who have chosen to suppress the truth of God for a lie.

The sins of the flesh include all sexual sins, and this passage emphasizes homosexual sins, as well as unbelief,  and those who are Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Thank God there is a remedy for sin, and that's the provision of salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, who cleanses all who ask Him for forgiveness.

When They Knew God; Man Can Not Save Himself Part 4 Ephesians 2:8,9

    in Religion

Romans chapter one gives us the “progression” of people who have decided to travel the highway of destruction (to ultimate misery and judgment) in hell. Surely, God doesn’t want anyone to perish. The Bible declares that we are responsible for ourselves—we must decide our own fate! Why would a person reject God? Why would any man or woman despise their Creator?  It all begins in Romans one with the easily overlooked little phrase, “...WHEN THEY KNEW GOD...” (Romans 1:21). Every man and woman at some point in life “knew God.” The Greek word for “knew” here means “to be aware of” or “to perceive.” Thus, we have all perceived God’s presence at some point in our life. Everyone has had the chance to do what’s right and seek after God.

King Josiah in the Old Testament grew up in the worst of sinful conditions with ungodly parents and yet he served the Lord and did what was right. Anyone can do right! ... “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to ALL men” (Titus 2:11). God’s “grace” is sufficient for ALL our needs. God is fair! “For the INVISIBLE THINGS of Him from the creation of the world are CLEARLY SEEN...” (Romans 1:20). Wow! The Scriptures teach that we can indeed see invisible things! How? “...being understood BY THE THINGS THAT ARE MADE...” (Romans 1:20). We read in Psalm 19:1-3 that “The heavens declare the glory (goodness) of God; and the firmament SHOWETH His handiwork. Day unto day UTTERETH speech, and night unto night SHOWETH knowledge.

Bible Study in Romans 1: The Gospel of God Revealed in Grace & Truth

    in Religion

Today we begin a fascinating study in the book of Romans.  Romans is said to be one of the most important books in the whole bible concerning doctrine.   Romans, written by St. Paul, reveals the gospel of grace, justification, glorification, the sin nature of man, the need for baptism, the transformation of the mind through the Spirit, and understanding of the Law and the role of Israel.  This is an amazing book and one that needs to be studied carefully and cherished.

Intercessing For the Nations : Releasing the Word of God!!

    in Religion

    Psalm 97

1 The Lord rules as king.     Let the earth rejoice.     Let all the islands be joyful. 2 Clouds and darkness surround him. Righteousness and justice are the foundations of his throne. 3 Fire spreads ahead of him. It burns his enemies who surround him.  4 His flashes of lightning light up the world.
The earth sees them and trembles. 5 The mountains melt like wax in the presence of the Lord,
in the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. 6 The heavens tell about his righteousness,
and all the people of the world see his glory. 7 Everyone who worships idols
and brags about false gods will be put to shame. All the gods will bow to him.

8 Zion hears about this and rejoices. The people of Judah are delighted with your judgments, O Lord.
9 You, O Lord, the Most High, are above the whole earth. You are highest. You are above all the gods.
10 Let those who love the Lord hate evil. The one who guards the lives of his godly ones
will rescue them from the power of wicked people. 11 Light dawns for righteous people[a]
and joy for those whose motives are decent. 12 Find joy in the Lord, you righteous people.
Give thanks to him as you remember how holy he is.
