Kid Rob is ready to go global. Born Robin Harris Jr., the native of Los Angeles, California began writing rhymes at age eight. Many expected him to carry the torch of his father the late great Robin Harris comic genius and creator of BeBe’s Kids and Pop’s in the movie House Party. Born six months after the death of his dad, Kid Rob would find a gift in storytelling while growing up. Growing up in the inner city, Kid Rob recalls different experiences that many youth in the inner city of Los Angeles, CA experience. Losing close friends to gang and street violence, as well as seeing friends become successful people within the community. At a young age, he transmitted his life and the lives of those around him in his music. Being able to see his brother play football at the University of Southern California when he was 7 gave him the opportunity to utilize sports to go to college. Though he has a way with words, Kid Rob comes from an athletic background who was a former Division 1 and Division 3 All-American & All-Conference Wide Receiver.
The creative talent began with inspirational pieces he would perform during the youth programs at church. He would later go on to write raps regarding social issues, love, and party tunes. During the filming of “We Don’t Die We Multiply, The Robin Harris Story”, Producer Topper Carew heard a version of “Everyday” a tribute to his dad and included the song in the movie soundtrack. Most recently, Kid Rob appeared on TVOne’s
Unsung Hollywood: Robin Harris Story that aired on March 5th, 2014. Amongst Rob and his family; Magic Johnson, Martin Lawrence, and Charlie Murphy made appearances on the episode sharing their great stories about the legendary comic.
Sometimes we have to step outside of what we want, and find pleasure in helping others. They say, when you do this, you will be blessed 10 fold, well, Troy Bronstein is a living example of this. As a young man he took it upon himself to help a few artists get gigs at clubs and before you know it, he opened T-Best Talent Agency in 1987 and has been very successful! He is now the manager for such wonderful performers as Robin S., Inaya Day, Crystal Waters, Evelyn "Champagne" King, and many more. Above all else, Troy is a beautiful human being, such a kind and generous spirit, it's no wonder the ladies flock around him...he also has a great sense of humor and amazing stories to tell, so be sure to join Nathan James and Meka Rae as we welcome special guest co-host Troy Bronstein to Brunch In The Basement With JaVonne
