Up until just a generation ago, rifle marksmanship programs were familiar features on school campuses in America. Millions of Americans learned to shoot at school programs taught in school basements, in school gyms and at ranges the schools took school children to as part of their school's marksmanship programs.
Then it started disappearing in the 60s, even more in the 70s. By the 80s it had almost vanished. Very few schools remain that have active rifle marksmanship programs. But, that is starting to change. And we can help change it.
When I was a kid, everyone I knew had firearms and did at least some type of shooting. Hunting, skeet, target practice and just plinking on evenings and weekends. Even all of the girls I knew growing up knew how to shoot. Now, I live rurally, and of the kids living out rurally today, very few have had any kind of experience, introduction or instruction in firearms and shooting. I imagine the kids in cities have had even less.
This poses a very real problem for the future of our 2nd Amendment rights. When these millions of kids, who have never had any involvement in the shooting sports industry become of voting age, they will have no dog in this hunt. To them, having the right to posses or use a firearm means nothing. They have never owned a firearm, never experienced shooting, so what would they miss? Getting rifle marksmanship into the Schools should be a priority for Americans who are concerned about the direction the erosion of our 2A rights has been taking. We should be pushing for a very up front and aggressive educational program for rifle marksmanship in our schools.
Jim and Kim Heath, two of the Appleseed Project volunteers have been doing just that and they will be on the show tonight to tell us how to go about getting rifle marksmanship programs into our schools.

Employers are not the only ones demanding social media passwords – schools are doing so too. There has been lots of media attention about this – resulting in a surge of legislative activity on the issue. In Illinois, a new law went into effect this year allowing school officials to have access to passwords to students’ social media accounts in certain situations. The concern, of course, is how this impacts a student’s right to privacy under the Constitution and state laws. This podcast with Kelly Anderson will explore the new law and how it could affect your children.
Rapid expansion in adoptions and use of mobile devices in schools has the potential to impact almost every aspect of education. A new report, "Mobile Technology for K-12 Education," sponsored by mobile learning company, Amplify, and conducted by education market research experts at IESD, reveals details about the current status of mobile technology in our schools. The question is, what are publishers and developers who serve the school market doing in terms of their product marketing plans and their sales approaches as we move away from the a textbook centric K-12 sales environment to an environment where smartphones, tablets, and other mobile computing devices are the primary delivery envelope? Host Glen McCandless asks K-12 market researcher, Jay Sivin-Kachala, of IESD, to provide his perspective.
There is a white male, maybe more than one abducting little black girls in Minneapolis. Co-host Ronald A. Edwards called the Minneapolis Public Schools and asked why an “AMBER ALERT” or “ROTO-CALL” was not done. School officials said it did not meet the threshold. The Minneapolis and St. Paul Public Schools have failed children of color one to many times. Join us as we talk about education, some history about Minnesota and current events.
We had a great "Ghosts of Goliad" Fundamentals of Rifle course this last weekend with the Central Texas Militia. They did a great job and we hope to work with them again in the future. They are doing their best to insure they have thew rifle skills to defend their selves and their loved ones, and the State of Texas and The Constitution of The United States. They are continuing to improve their education and skill sets.
We had a 10 minute class on beer making, as well as short discussions of alternate power and about water storage and purification. These folks are trying to learn how to become more self reliant and better prepared to handle situations which might arise during man made or natural cessation of services events.
The folks in the III%ers/Grid Down Communication Course the weekend before were doing the same. Learning to communicte when the normal systems go down

"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles." -Col. Jeff Cooper, Firearms Pioneer “To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.” -Richard Henry Lee, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and crafter of the Second Amendment "The unarmed man is not just defenseless -- he is also contemptible." -Machiavelli Minute-of-Angle, Point of Aim/Point of Impact, Natural Point of Aim, Cheek Weld, Trigger Control, Off-Hand, Kneeling, Prone...

We begin by Brian Stetten briefly discussing right wing libertarian insanity and the promotion of freedom and democracy for plutocrats only.
Then education/labor activist, and public attorney Danny Weil will discuss picking your poison: Jeb Bush vs. Hillary Clinton. How the plutocrats made a mockery of representative democracy!
Danny Weil is a writer for Project Censored and Daily Censored. He received the Project Censored "Most Censored" News Stories of 2009-10 award for his article: "Neoliberalism, Charter Schools and the Chicago Model / Obama and Duncan's Education Policy: Like Bush's, Only Worse," published by Counterpunch, August 24, 2009.
Dr. Weil has published more than seven books on education in the past 20 years. You can also read much more about the for-profit, predatory colleges in his writings found at Counterpunch.com, Dailycensored.com, dissidentvoice.com and Project Censored.com where he has covered the issue of the privatization of education for years. He can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
His book, an encyclopedia on charter schools, entitled: "Charter School Movement: History, Politics, Policies, Economics and Effectiveness," 641 pages, was published in August of 2009 by Grey House Publishing, New York, and provides a scathing look at the privatization of education through charter schools.
