I am hosting 40 year comedy vet Rick Overton. Rick is a former client of mine and I remember him as Robin Williams's go to guy in late night Improvasation breakouts at....The IMPROV on Melrose. He has starred in numerous HBO and Showtime specials and has had countless TV stand up appearances. He played The Drake on “Seinfeld” and Pam’s Dad on “The Office.” He currently recurs on Adult Swim’s “Children Hospital,” ABC’s “Last Man Standing,” TNT’s “Leverage” and recently guest starred on “The League,” “The Middle,” “The Kroll Show,” and “Newsreaders.” Rick has also guested on classic TV series like “Lost,” “E.R.,” “Made About You” and “Married With Children.” On the big screen, he has worked with A-list directors like Ron Howard, Chris Columbus, Harold Ramis, Jay Roach, and Steven Soderberg, with roles in films like “Bad Teacher,” “The Informant,” “Dinner for Schmucks,” “Cloverfield,” “Groundhog Day,” “Mrs. Doubtfire,” and “Willow.” He also has an Emmy Award for writing on HBO’s “Dennis Miller Live.” Rick is currently a semi-regular contributor to the Huffington Post and hosts a popular podcast called “Overview” that is available on iTunes.

The fact that your friends in podcasting will talk about virtually anything leads to free-wheeling discussions and usually makes YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour unpredictable.
This week’s show is REALLY out of the ordinary, however …
Start with the fact that some of it was recorded this past Thursday, when Graham Elwood and the film crew of “Ear Buds”, a feature length documentary about podcasting stopped by a certain historic building in downtown Los Angeles to interview Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness and to shoot footage of them “changing the way you listen to the internet”.
The show opens with a heartfelt and rather insightful discussion about “stability” and the keys to staying calm in the center of chaos, a conversation inspired by a visit from longtime listener and occasional CHH contributor, Matt Giles.
Then, Phil and Dean demonstrate for Graham and his crew their relationship with their listeners by answering a provocative question from Brandon Wells about the deeper cultural implications of “The Hunger Games” books and movies.
In other words, the first half of this week’s show will be full of the irreverent, insightful and inspiring conversation you’ve come to expect from Dean and Phil, delivered in a most unexpected way …
The second half of the show is an interview with Rick Overton, an Emmy-winning writer, the host of “Overview”, and one of Phil’s all-time favorite comedians and comic performers. Unfortunately, Phil couldn’t be there for the interview, so he will be listening and laughing along with everyone else as soon this episode drops!
Marc Hershon, the host of Succotash, is a member of the Illuminati?!
That’s just one of the many interesting tidbits you’ll learn, along with the source for the term “limelight”, a conspiracy to blow up the Los Angeles Times in the early 20th Century, and the real, behind-the-scenes origin of the name “Rosebud” in Citizen Kane.
There’s also movie talk aplenty (The Lego Movie, Anchorman 2, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Noah) AND the second half of Dean’s conversation with the great Rick Overton!

Cathy Scott joins us on the CL Gammon Show. Cathy Scott is a tour de force in true crime as a Los Angeles Times bestselling author and an award-winning investigative journalist. She attracted international acclaim for her classic true-crime biographies, The Killing of Tupac Shakur and The Murder of Biggie Smalls. Her eighth book, The Millionaire's Wife, was released March 27, 2012. by St. Martin's Press about the 1990 contract murder of George Kogan on an Upper East Side Manhattan street in broad daylight. Fast-forward nearly 20 years, and Barbara Kogan, George's estranged wife, admitted to hiring a hit man to have her husband gunned down. Her ninth book - Murder in Beverly Hills (the re-release and update of Murder of a Mafia Daughter) - was published in November 2013 about the unsolved murder of writer Susan Berman. The book includes exclusive information from investigators and new information about their prime suspect. A memoir of a former drug kingpin, Freeway Rick Ross: The Untold Autobiography, which Cathy co-wrote with Ross, was released in June 2014 to a standing-room audience at its Los Angeles launch. Her latest project is the Dawn Viens case. Dawn, 37, disappeared on Oct. 18, 2010, after leaving Thyme Contemporary Cafe, in Lomita, California, that she and her husband ran. David Viens told police that he and his wife had argued. She didn't take her cell phone or stash of cash, and her car was later towed as evidence when she did not return. The husband, after throwing himself off a cliff -- and surviving -- admitted to killing his wife but has not told police where Dawn's body is.
