Talking in Circles: Richmond Review - Chase Preview

    in Sports

On tonight's episode we break down Richmond and the dominant performance of Matt Kenseth in the Federated Auto Parts 400. We'll talk about that performance and whether or not the racing needs to be improved.

We'll also talk about restarts and the comments from Steve O'Donnell about them. We're going to tell you why he's wrong, and why NASCAR has opened up a door for their drivers to retaliate.

We'll talk about the Chase Grid, and give you our chase grids. We'll go through each round, and tell you why each of these drivers will make it through those rounds, finally down to the final 4, and then to the champion at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Also, Aaron's announced they are not sponsorsing a car for the 2016 season. The guys will discuss why this has become just business as usual for NASCAR 2015.

Also, Jimmie Johnson, Lowe's and crew chief, Chad Knaus have all resigned with Hendrick Motorsports. We'll talk about the contract and the length of those deals.

An interesting article was posted about one thing you would change in NASCAR if you could. We'll give our ideas, and you callers can chime in with yours.

Also the possibility of a dirt race coming to Charlotte, and now LaGuna Seca may not get a date after all.

Soulful Softball Sunday Participants talk fun, life and Richmond,CA

    in News

Many think it's just a softball game and black folks eating food,NAW it's more than any human can imagine when a Mother apologizes to the Mother who son was killed by her son.THAT'S HEALING AND IT'S TAKING PLACE EVERY WEEKEND AT SOULFUL SOFTBALL SUNDAY.... A new weekly softball game in Nichol Park is shaking up neighborhood boundaries with a radical idea: everyone -- from every part of Richmond -- is invited to play and hang out in the same place without fear of cross-town violence.
“My inbox is flooded with messages from guys in different parts of town,” explains Rodney Alamo Brown, co-organizer of the Soulful Softball Sundays event.
“They say to me, ‘Rodney, I really want to come, but guys from the other side of town are trippin’ and I don’t want to be a sitting duck and get ambushed’,” Brown says.
Soulful Softball Sundays was started by Brown and Antoine Cloird of Men and Women of Purpose to resolve exactly this sort of conflict. What appears at first to be a family-friendly softball game in a park is actually more of a one-stop-shop for community healing.
“How do we lead the horse to the water? That’s what we had to figure out,” Brown explains. “How do you get people to the mental health services they need? How do you peel back the layers of fear people have about leaving their own neighborhood? We said, ‘Let’s take people back to when they were eight-years-old and they had no worries in the world.’ These games are like a reunion of sorts.”
When Brown and Cloird grew up in Richmond, Nichol Park was the spot to play baseball in the city. The two are trying to recreate the innocent playground of their youth, and they invite all of Richmond to join in.
“We’re not handing out pamphlets, we’re just talking with people,” Cloird explains. The most important part about Soulful Softball Su

    Richmond,CA Police Chief Chris Magnus

    in Politics

Richmond,CA Police Chief Chris Magnus,I will conduct an exclusive interview concerning The Baltimore crisis and his unique method of community policing. Chief Magnus, who is white, went so far as to hold a “Black Lives Matter” sign. “It seemed to totally represent what we’re trying to accomplish,” says Magnus, “which is respect: this idea that we acknowledge that the relationship between police and the African American community, particularly in many cities, has really been at best strained and at worst incredibly difficult for many, many years.”Magnus took some grief for holding the sign, but he stands by his decision: “It doesn’t mean a wholesale endorsement of attacks on police or saying that police are brutal or racist across the board. Of course I don’t feel that way. I feel like all lives matter. That’s really what community policing should be about.

"Everything You Need" with Min LaKesha Richmond

    in Christianity

Do you expect a spouse or a close friend to provide everything you need?  If the answer is yes, you should wonder who actually supplies all their needs.  Depending on someone else to do what our Father in heaven does is not exercising Total Faith in the one who provides.  Minister LaKesha Richmond will walk us through some key verses in scripture that will encourage us to maintain our Focus, our Faith and our Fellowship on THE ONE who supplies "Everything You Need".

    Talking in Circles: Richmond Preview

    in Sports

On tonight's episode of Talking in Circles we'll discuss the new deal for the Nationwide Series where, as of January 1st it will be known as the Xfinity Series. A big 10-year deal for NASCAR for the second-tier series and we'll talk about the implications for this deal and the fine print as well.

Also, This week in NASCAR history brings us back to September 7, 1991, at Richmond. "Handsome" Harry Gant wins the second race of four straight wins in the number 33 Skoal Bandit Oldsmobile. Also, there will be a new team debuting at Richmond. Beard Motorsports, owned by Mark Beard, of Mount Pleasant, Michigan. With the field being 44 cars for 43 spots, and not having owner's points, it's going to be a tall task for the number 75 Chevrolet driven by Clay Rogers, who is also looking to make his Sprint Cup debut. Clayton and Brandon will talk about this team's chances at making the race at Richmond, and how interesting Friday will be for this team.

    in Sports

On tonight's episode of Talking in Circles, we discuss Saturday Night's Federated Auto Parts 400 @ Richmond International Raceway. Brad Keselowski wins his fourth race of 2014.

We'll discuss about the racing at Richmond, and what we thought of it. There were only two leaders the whole race, and the racing was down significantly.

We'll talk about some strong runs for some drivers.

Both series the driver won from the pole.

We'll pick the 4 drivers that we don't think will advance to the next round in the chase.

Artist, Activist and Storyteller, Paul Richmond

    in LGBT

Paul Richmond is an artist, activist, and storyteller. His work often incorporates elements of pop culture, politics, and his own experiences as a gay man. You can see all of his work, purchase some prints and more at http://paulrichmondstudio.com. His latest series, War Paint, explores ideas of identity and masculinity through expressive, figurative paintings of men covering their bodies with paint. He enjoys working with models who have made important or interesting contributions to LGBT culture, and he's painted everyone from Jack Mackenroth to Perez Hilton. Many of the "gaylebrity" models were a part of his Cheesecake Boys series, a gay/male spin on classic pin-up art from the 40's and 50's.

When he's not painting, he is busy with a non-profit organization that he founded with his childhood art teacher called the You Will Rise Project. Their mission to empower young people who have experienced bullying to speak out through the creation of uncensored artworks. He was bullied horribly as a kid and having a creative outlet made all the difference. He does free workshops for young people, a mentorship program connecting college artists with bullied high school students, a special project last spring called Art For Michael in support of an 11 year old boy who attempted suicide after being bullied for his love of My Little Pony, and a new social media photo campaign called #SelfieRespect. Visit: http://youwillriseproject.com.

Him and his husband  are involved with the fight for marriage equality as well. They were married a year and a half ago with a group of 24 other LGBT couples who rode a bus to Washington DC and had our ceremony in front of the Supreme Court building just days before DOMA was repealed.
