Fifteen years ago actor, writer, director, and producer Timothy John left his hometown of Kansas City to follow his dreams. Almost ten years have passed since Richard Pryor, arguably the greatest comedian ever, lost his battle with multiple sclerosis. Pryor will never lose his position as cultural icon, and we can only hope that a cure to this debilitating disease will soon be found so we don't lose another soul that reaches out and touches as did Pryor and his ability to allow us to experience our reality with the outrageous, profane, and conscience perspective that only he imparted.
“The Pryor Empire” will feature Timothy John as Pryor from his teenage years up until the years of his last breath. He will also bring on Pryor's former wives, closest friends, and his long time fan favorite character, Mudbone.
“The Pryor Empire” is guaranteed to entertain and electrify audiences as if Pryor were still alive.
"I always wanted to star as Richard Pryor in the movie of his life. Post-Jo Jo Dancer, his complete biopic. No one's called about the movie yet, so I decided to do this one-man show in honor of the man I looked up to and give back to his family, his struggle, and his legacy.” -Timothy John
Furious Cool: Richard Pryor and the World That Made Him
Richard Pryor attracted admiration and anger in equal parts. He was a comedian who many consider the greatest ever, yet his triumphant stand-up work has been largely eclipsed by his mediocre movie output. His personal life was likewise something of a contradiction, because Pryor was a man of deep intelligence and sensitivity yet was also someone who could never seem to make the pieces of his life come together to create a whole. His was a fascinating, larger-than-life personality; he was as pivotal and essential a figure. Pryor the solo artist brought to a pop-obsessed generation the news that they had a past with deep roots that spoke to our shared humanity.
David Henry is a screenwriter and his brother, Joe Henry is a singer/songwriter as well as a music producer. This is their first book, and they are working on a screenplay based on Pryor's life and career.
Wanted: Live in Concert (also known as Wanted/Richard Pryor - Live In Concert is a comedy album by Richard Pryor. Released as a double-LP in 1978, it includes performances from Pryor's concert tour in 1978. Two performances from that tour were filmed in Long Beach, California for theatrical release.

Dean Haglund is back from Australia where he was busy laying the groundwork for his full-time move down under in May. While he was there, he Skyped with Phil Leirness because, well, your friends in podcasting miss each other when they are apart AND because there was the big news about the return of “The X-Files” to discuss. Part of this week’s show will be that (recorded) conversation, wherein they also discuss Gillian Anderson’s “other” current series, the absolutely terrific “The Fall”.
Back in L.A. there’s plenty of TV news to discuss, including Emmy Awards rulings, a new host for "The Daily Show", the return of “Coach”, the possible return of “Twin Peaks” and the “Sherlock” Christmas special. Before his trip, Dean performed and gave a fantastic presentation about Chaplin and City Lights at the Los Angeles Breakfast Club. This will get discussed as the “Live Event of the Week” before Dean and Phil launch into movie news featuring the latest on Eddie Murphy, Idris Elba, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Bradley Cooper. All that, plus two puzzling emails from listeners.
