When Lester Maddox was governor of Georgia in the late 1960s, he insisted that the problem with the state’s prisons was “the poor quality of its inmates.”
Maddox was a Democrat and an ardent defender of the Apartheid South, not exactly an American statesman. Yet his defense of Georgia’s prison system turns out to be a perfect metaphor for today’s Republican Party, created when political consultant Kevin Phillips realized that Nixon’s 43.9 percent, added to George Wallace’s 13.5 percent of the popular vote in the 1968 election, was the beginning of a coalition that would ensure a permanent Republican majority in the South. (Phillips has spent the second half of his life atoning for and writing about his Southern Strategy.)
To understand the posturing of the Republican candidates this year, you have to take into account the quality of the inmates––the Southern, conservative, anti-immigrant base that dominates the party Lincoln helped create to confront the nativism and anti-immigration politics of the Democrats and Know Nothings in the 1850s.
The candidates––not their backers and constituency-group leaders––got most of the media attention at last month’s Values Voters Summit in Washington because they are the candidates––and because their pronouncements, which range from deeply disturbing to utterly risible, are newsworthy.
When Ted Cruz implies that if elected, he will kill Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, that’s news. When Mike Huckabee promises to invoke the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments to ban abortion with the stroke of a pen, because the unborn are fully fledged citizens of the United States (“None of your daughters and daughters-in-law called you up and said ‘Guess What? I’m going to have a blob of tissue.’”), that’s also news.

Lowell Ponte-The former think tank futurist and Roving Editor at Reader's Digest takes on the "college crybullies," the infantilization of our culture, why we're becoming a culture where a majority won't even bother to work plus more if your heart can handle it, as we talk about his latest book. It's probably the most provocative book from him and Craig Smith.
Dr Vinh Chung-He tells of his own incredible life-saving refugee story. And it's through his experience that he openly discusses our currrent Syrian refugee crisis. There is a big difference from then to now. Do we want to listen to someone who's been there and paid the price for freedom?
Herb London-The president of the London Center for Policy Research and senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute says Putin is sending 150,000 troops to wipe out ISIS, France is bombing the hell out of Syria, but where's America, Britain and Germany?

Thomas Jefferson and the founding fathers intended a strict separation of church and state, right? He would have been very upset to find out about a child praying in a public school or a government building used for religious purposes, correct? Actually, the history on this has been very distorted. While Jefferson may seem to be the Patron Saint of the ACLU, his words and actions showed that he would totally disagree with the idea of driving God out of the public square. Doubting Thomas documents that. . . * Jefferson said that our rights come from God. God-given rights are non-negotiables. * At the time that he wrote the Declaration of Independence and the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom---major contributions to human and religious rights?Jefferson served diligently as a vestryman (like an elder and a deacon rolled into one) for the Episcopal Church. * In 1777, he wrote up the charter for the Calvinistical Reformed Church in his town with an evangelical preacher, the Rev. Charles Clay--with whom he had a lifelong friendship. Jefferson was the biggest single contributor to this fledgling congregation. * Jefferson had nothing but the highest praise for Jesus’ teaching, which he studied religiously (even in the original Greek), in order to pattern his life after that which he called “the most sublime and benevolent code of morals which has ever been offered to man.” * As president, he attended church on a regular basis at the US Capitol building, even sometimes recommending preachers to fill that pulpit. * He had many positive relationships with orthodox clergymen and active lay Christians. * He actively supported Christian causes, financially, in ways that would put the average Christian to shame.

MM Radio... DISCUSSING THE TOPICS THAT MATTER TO YOU
Is Isa going to join in on the sheeple band wagon and add the French Flag overlay on his profile picture? We will find out this week on A Muslim & A Catholic Wake Up In ‘Merica. You do realize by always following the Facebook trends you are doing two things: 1. Showing your ignorance in general and to the fact that you do not comprehend how much trouble our own nation is truly in. And 2. You are just reassuring the tyrannical government that they are in control to continue their destructive agenda and you won’t stop them.
Isa and Common Cal will also serve up the facts and the truth on the Syrian refugees. Thoughout the conversation a breakdown of the numbers from a religious aspect will be uncovered. How many of them are Muslim, Catholic, or Christian and so on down the line. Another factor that will be considered is the one of whether our society even able to handle the influx and problems that will surely come with it. Not sure having more people with their panties in a wod over a simple red cup will do any good, considering how many kids and veterans in our own country go hungry or are homeless. Oh that’s right the truth hurts and we can’t look at that so we have to manufacture a less personal truth.
All that and more on A Muslim & A Catholic Wake Up In ‘Merica, Tuesday night, 8:00pm EST/5:00pmPST. Listen live and call in at wakeupinmerica.com, jrevradio.com and Coffee Party USA Radio Network.
