Religion as we all understand is a personal and institutional reality in people’s lives. Religion provides significant context in its teaching in the lives of women as well as convey messages on religious values and beliefs to the particular members. Religion serves as resources to assist in support services, counseling, guidance and in assistance to those in one negative situation or the other depending on the belief system. Rev Dr. Marie Fortune and Rabbi Cindy Enger explained that Religion can also be misused to excuse or condone abusive behaviors and in the context of violence against women, religious communities play significant role and will never want to be neutral. The modalities of such acts rest upon the diversities of beliefs, teachings and traditions that exist among the many religions of the world. Stating further, Dr.Fortune and Rabbi Enger informed that the task for religion is of two folds; first is to recognize that religious beliefs and teaching can serve as a roadblocks and resources for victims of violence and secondly Religious belief can explore new interpretations that minimize the roadblocks and maximize the resources for women. Women should not be compelled to choose between safety and religion rather women should be able to access the resources of both community-based advocacy and shelter support counsel. To achieve this women need the resources of roadblocks and exploration of new interpretation to work collaboratively in achieving advocacy and support for victims of violence.

Women around the world are being brutalized in the name of "culture." Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation seeks to end all practices that violate women - that includes domestic violence, sex trafficking, rape and female genital mutilation. Education and economic empowerment will enable women to eradicate the culture of violence against women. Many women unknowingly perpetuate such a culture, out of wrong beliefs that they have no choice but to submit to cruelty. Today's guest, Angela Peabody, head of Global Woman PEACE Foundation, will discuss the organization's work in empowering women worldwide. As we look ahead to the year 2020, the 100th year of the 19th Amendment that gave U.S. women the right to vote, we look at how women can use their collective power to organize globally to end war and violence everywhere.

Because of years of oppression, racism, discrimination and a clear and blatant government/media agenda…there’s been a huge focus that’s been put on race relations in America and specifically in the black community as of late… So much so, that there’s been a significant decrease in attention being put on the church and upholding the teachings of Jesus Christ. “The Dedan Tolbert Show” returns LIVE TONIGHT at 9:00pm EST for our annual Post Memorial Day Ask Dedan Advice Special on “Race vs Religion”, where we’ll discuss the recent remarks by Dr. Umar Johnson encouraging our youth to engage in violent behavior, put race first and religion second and many other controversial statements. To hear answers to many other “Ask Dedan” topics such as: appropriate styles of dress for Christian women, couples tithing in a marriage and MANY others, call 646 200 0366 or listen LIVE online worldwide at www.dedantolbertshow.com... “REAL Radio that Matters for over 10 Years” #RRTM
