You perhaps have heard of the well known contemporary christian artist Crystal Lewis who sang I'd rather have Jesus. A song that encourages and reminds us as followers of Christ why we serve Him rather than the world. And so in the midst of all the chaos of life we do need to be reminded of why we serve and live for the Lord who gave his life so we may walk in true freedom, not freedom to do as we pleased but freedom to live in him. There are times however, that we must check ourselves and ask is there anything thats getting in the way between my relationship with God? Perhaps you find yourself wanting more things, possessions, prominence or fleshly desires that can do you much harm rather than good. Am I holding onto or grasping something that will leave me unsatisfied and unfullfilled? Or do we really want a relationship or just what God can do for us? Is there a particular sin you want to cling to more than Christ? May God help us grow in a deeper intimacy and knowledge of Him and leave all those worldly distractions and pleasures behind. Joshua 24:15 says this But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
