“Police don’t empower the community. The community empowers the police to give full time attention to that which is everyone’s responsibility” is a quote offered for discussion at a recent New Horizons’ Coffee House Volunteer Planning Meeting, by one of the volunteers, a retired police officer.
The notion of it was so out of range for most in attendance as to create a bit of a stir in the ensuing discussion. That meeting discussion and its highlights is brought forth into this evening’s broadcast and will be carried over into our Coffee House Conversations by Conference Call Forum, promising to inspire energetic dialogue on both broadcast and the following forum.

Dr. Robin DiAngelo is a former Associate Professor of Education. Her scholarship is in White Racial Identity and Race Relations. In addition to her academic work, Dr. DiAngelo has extensive experience as a workplace consultant in issues of race relations and racial justice. She helped design the City of Seattle’s Race & Social Justice Initiative training. She currently serves as Director of Equity at Senior Services, Seattle. She has numerous publications and just released her second book, “What Does it Mean to be White?: Developing White Racial Literacy. Her work on White Fragility has been featured in Alternet, Salon.com, NPR, and Colorlines.
Letisha Galloway is from Woodstown, New Jersey and currently resides in Delaware. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Wilmington University. She obtained a Master of Science degree in Administration of Human Services from Wilmington University. Ms. Galloway is presently a Senior Social Worker/Case Manager in Delaware.
Letisha is a poet, author, and speaker. Letisha is regularly involved in bringing awareness to domestic violence. Surviving domestic violence herself, she is a strong advocate for change and protection for those who feel they have no voice. Letisha is active in child abuse prevention activities.
Letisha is the mother of one, a son she named Jordan who is resting peacefully in the arms of God
