Did things slow down after the end of the General Assembly Session? Not so much.
The election season is now in overdrive, with candidates debating & grabbing media attention, bills getting signed, and both candidates & parties fundraising.
Tonight we'll hear from people attending a debate last week, and a bill-signing this week. We'll also hear from some candidates at a local Central Committee fundraiser, and listen to some remarks from the head of the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus.
Among those we hear from are Dan Bongino, Ron George, David Craig, Charles Loller, Boyd Rutherford, Doug Gansler, Anthony Brown, Martin O'Malley, Michael Busch, Curt Anderson, Eric Knowles, and more.
At state and national levels, GOP officials as well as local wingers have a clear new strategy of Whac-A-Woman. Sure, it's easy to note and prove that Republicans hae an active policy of crushing women's rigfhts under terrible laws. That's already backfired enough that they simultaneously deny the obvious and then publicly report they'll change their ways...to recapture women voters.
What about individual, specific women?
We can expect state and national GOP groups to attack femaile Dem candidates. More telling and more intriguing is the preemptive calumny. We can start with Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren, both long-term targets of wingers, conspiracy mongers, and plain crazies. Manufactured, altered and gain-of-truth issues spill from the bag of tricks.
The natil that sticks up will be pounded down seems the new GOP motto for Democratic women, even those not yet running for the Presidency or other office. We'll muse on how effective this might be for 2014 and 2016. We'll consider which of the winger media are the Greek chorus behind it too.

Now Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus has fired off letters to CNN’s Jeff Zucker and NBC’s Robert Greenblatt, objecting to plans for movie projects about Hillary Clinton and going so far as to threaten not to cooperate in presidential debates in the 2016 cycle.
“it’s appalling to know executives at major networks like NBC and CNN who have donated to Democrats and Hillary Clinton have taken it upon themselves to be Hillary Clinton’s campaign operatives,” Priebus said in a statement, calling “their actions to promote Secretary Clinton” “disturbing and disappointing.” He called them “political ads masked as unbiased entertainment.”
Priebus wrote that if the networks have not agreed to pull the programming before the RNC’s summer meeting on Aug. 14, he will seek a “binding vote” that the RNC will not partner with the networks in 2016 primary debates or sanction debates. This may be one of the most undemocratic moves any Major US Party has demanded from the media! This strong arming is what is expected from a dictatorship controlling the Press's message regarding their regime! Republicans have got to realize the more extreme to the Right they go; the more the main stream media are going to reflect their extremism. Now the Republican Chair Priebus is threatening retaliation!

Supreme Court Hears Case on Liability Over Generic Drugs
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments today about who is liable for a faulty generic drug. A woman who took a pain killer ended up losing much of her skin, had to be put in a drug-induced coma and is now blind. The manufacturer says they are not liable because they make the drug exactly as the brand manufacturer did and the FDA approved it. We talk to Andre M. Voting Rights Laws Go to Supreme Court
Yesterday, the Supreme Court heard the case of Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, in which they are being asked if the state can add requirements for voter registration beyond what is called for in federal law. In this case, whether they can demand documentary proof of citizenship. It’s the second case of voter rights the Court is being asked to review this term. Republican Chair Proposes Plans for GOP Future
National Republican leader Reince Priebus yesterday announced a plan to revitalize the GOP for the future, particularly through a program to reach out to minority voters. The RNC chairman said that the party has failed to make inroads among people who should be Republicans and they have been unfairly misrepresented as a result. Priebus’s comments came just a couple days after the Conservative Political Action Conference during which conservatives discussed a great deal about how to rebuild the party to better reflect the country.
