Workshop Wednesdays Radio with Mantra Leadership

    in Business

Workshop Wednesdays Radio with Host Tony Gambone and Special Guest Dana Oliver:

Dana Oliver is a kind of “rags to riches” business success. I grew up the son of a career military father with little to no disposable monies where neither of my parents attended college. The expectations were to be a good person and find a profession. In short, I worked full time during the day and attended night school at Northeastern University, Boston, MA for ten years while receiving partial reimbursement from the businesses I worked for with the remainder supplemented by myself. I began as an entry level minimum wage draftsman working my way up until my present day career.

As a brief biography, I am the Senior Director of Research & Development at Medtronic’s Surgical Technologies ENT / NT division and have helped grow this business unit from $100 million to approximately $2 billion in annual revenues over fourteen years. I have approximately 30 years of experience in the field of medical devices, working for such companies as Medtronic, Genzyme, SIMS Level 1, Kirwan Surgical, and Strichman Medical. I have applied for over 30 patent applications and has been granted over 20 US patents to date and I am the author of two self-help business books; “Mantra Leadership – Don’t Become the Emperor with No Clothes!” (The book focuses on emotionally intelligent leadership skills that can result in as much as a 30% or more improvement in productivity). More recently, I published “Mantra Design – Innovate, Buy, or Die! Discover the Secrets for Profitable and Lasting Innovation” (The book reveals the secrets to identifying your customer’s unmet needs and transforming them into patent protected, premium priced, market share leading products).

2/23/2016 - Wisconsin's Medicaid Rates for Ambulance Services

    in Caregiving

This webcast of EMS Live in Wisconsin was recorded live on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.

Currently, one in five Wisconsin residents is on state funded Medicaid. The state's Medicaid budget is $9.1 billion.

Without Wisconsin Department of Health Services increasing the reimbursement rate or industry stakeholders pursuing legislative action, growing budget gaps caused by low Medicaid payments will continue to plague the industry and lead to a greater cost shift to other payers, local property taxes or potentially result in a reduction of services.

Guests included Baraboo EMS Chief Dana Secler and Paratech Ambulance Vice President Larry Knuth.  They met recently with Wisconsin Department of Health Services leadership.

The webcast concluded with EMS Advisory Board Chairman Jerry Biggart reviewing several highlights of priority items the board is working on.  One of the items discussed included EMS worker protection laws, since many state's are enacting them.  The good news for Wisconsin's EMS workers is protection laws already exist.  >> Click for Wisconsin's EMS protection laws.

Co-hosts include Chris Anderson, Joe Covelli, Patrick Ryan and Dan Williams.  The webcast is broadcast live the second and fourth Tuesday every month.

Don't miss a beat of Wisconsin EMS action - listen to EMS Live!

Brad Bonilla – Austin, TX Personal Injury Attorney on the Myths & Misconceptions of 18 Wheeler & Com

    in Entrepreneur

In this episode Jack talks with Brad Bonilla, a 3rd generation Personal Injury Attorney with his Family owned Bonilla Law Firm in Austin, TX. Brad specializes in cases involving commercial and 18-wheeler accidents. During the interview he shares information we should be aware of if you or a family member is ever in an accident with a large commercial vehicle, especially an 18-wheeler.

News Flash: insurance companies are in business to minimize their risks and payouts. As a result, Brad Bonilla explains that in an accident with a commercial vehicle, it’s often the commercial insurer rushing to the accident scene as quickly as possible to gather as much evidence as they can to minimize any fault against their insured. In fact, in accidents with injuries, they’ve been known to go to the hospital to gather information on and from the injured victim to try and close the case before an attorney is even called.

One especially surprising piece of information which Brad shared is that when someone receives a monetary settlement from the at-fault party’s insurance company to pay for their medical care, the injured party’s medical insurance company can demand reimbursement for any monies they’ve spent on behalf of their insured. This is known as subrogation and most people are not aware of this.

Brad highlights the many important reasons why someone would want to use the services of a personal injury attorney that specializes in these types of cases when involved in an accident with a commercial vehicle.

Monsanto v. Schmeiser: The Farmer Who Sued Monsanto and Won!

    in Food

Do you know who Percy Schmesier is? He certainly made history serveral years ago proving that one person can make a difference! Percy Schmeiser is a canola farmer from Saskatchewan, Canada. He was the first farmer to win a law suit against Monsanto. This landmark case, which went before the Federal Court of Canada, has attracted international attention because it could help determine how much control a handful of powerful biotech companies can exert over farmers. By popular request, listen to this special encore segment of The Organic View Radio Show, as host, June Stoyer talks to Percy Schmeiser about his battle with this agro-chemical giant.
