In honor of Veteran's Day, we have a special interview with retired Army Captain, Entrepreneur, Comedian and mother Isaura Ramirez. It's an unlikely post-military career, but Isaura Ramirez keeps you laughing all the while staying focused on bringing arts to Veterans as way to build communities, promote expression and facilitate learning through her work with ASAP. As a Latina combat veteran, she draws from her unique experiences growing up in Puerto Rico, serving in the military, and being the token minority among her white friends. Ramirez is a retired Army Captain, and a graduate of the first Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) Comedy Bootcamp for veterans. She has performed for the Comedy Club of Williamsburg and the College of William & Mary, and her worked has been featured on NPR's With Good Reason, Stars and Stripes and the Daily Press.
Tune into our interview to hear her story, her focus on Veteran's non-profit work and how she juggles it all. We will also bring you our highlights of women who made the headlines this week. Tune into our newest and special show honoring our Veteran's on Power Lunch Radio, Friday's at 12pm EST!

You already know that we cover the gamut of ALL That is Jazz on this show. We have had the most traditional of the straight-ahead crowd. We have had acts that are SO contemporary that they AIN'T Jazz ;) Cecil Ramirez is that most awesome of artists - trained at The Music Conservatory, University of the Pacific (at age 16!), worked hard on the road with his college band, Pacific Crossing, and formulated his music through a cross-section of inspirations - helped along by his rigorous schedule in recording studios in Northern California.
Who Cecil IS: a seasoned artist who is completely comfortable playing that Mason & Hamlin piano in a living room - or outdoors to several thousand fans. Something that needs to get said about our guest - while yours truly is typing this on Veterans Day: he's a military brat. And that fact tells you what is necessary about his music. Having lived in many places, one cannot help but be inspired by the many cultures and local flavor that surrounds you. Cecil has brought this to his music, too.
What a pleasure to have this consummate keyboardist, composer and arranger on the show! You ask Brian Culbertson about Cecil. Brian has had this amazing artist as a key figure at Mr. C's "Napa Valley Jazz Getaway" for a few years now. Whew, is Cecil's life kicking! And with "Party in the Back" (his second release), it's only UP from here. The personnel on the album - besides his friend and frequent music collaborator, Brian: Darren Rahn, Michael Lington, Phil Denny and Adam Hawley! So you KNOW that there are many who respect Cecil's vast talent. Including this writer!
Besides having worked with the A-listers in Contemporary Jazz, Cecil has also spent time working on behalf on charities. Including cancer prevention and autism awareness. Please join us during our visit on 11/12!
Why did the U.S. Navy test-fire two ballistic missiles last week off the California coast? Rick suggests one possibility today. He replays a segment of an interview recorded earlier this year in which a specific date was seen in a dream. In Part 2, former Satanist John Ramirez talks about his new book Unmasking the Devil.
Luis Marte, an Audio Engineer originally from The Bronx, NY who now calls Central Florida his Home.
Luis “eL eMz” Martinez, officially known to his friends and family as Louie Lou has been blessed with a long career in the music industry as an artist, songwriter, engineer and producer. He has opened for Chico Debarge on the Apollo stage, toured with pop sensation 98 Degrees, shared the Disney Channel spotlight with latin heart throb Enrique Iglesias and burned the airwaves of MTV TRL. For most of his career as a performing artist, he rode the journey with three other guys. Strange Wayz was the name they went by, four childhood friends, four guys who took a chance on each other to chase a dream and boy did they ever. They signed to power house booking agency ICM: International Creative Management in early 2001 and were catapulted into the scene opening for major pop acts dominating the charts. Strange Wayz was able to fuse their latin roots with a Pop/R&B swag that propelled them to heights only dreamed about in streets of the Bronx.
Fast forward to present day, Luis now finds himself on the other side, writing and producing for a number of major and independent artist, working with Major/Indie label Top Stop Music and soon to be released projects, managing Bachata’s own Billy Pabon of Marcy Place, all while still releasing his own music on his label eLeMz Music Group.
