    Networking these days is becoming more and more important for career related advice. It can be done at any age, any time. Networking should start with an elevator speech. The idea of an “elevator speech” is to have a prepared presentation that grabs attention and says a lot in a few words. What are you going to be saying? By telling your core message, you will be marketing yourself in a way that will make people want to know more about you.


    If you want to network with people in a specific field, go to events where you think they’ll be – make your own luck. Opportunities to network may arise from planned events or spontaneously at on- and off-campus functions.

    Have You Developed Your Networking Style & System?

    People talk about networking all the time.   Networking is an important tool to building your business. It is one part of your marketing funnel to get clients. It allows you to be authentic and genuine as it increases your Visibility, Credibility and Profitability. For most of us, we tend to think of networking events. But have you every asked yourself what type of networking you like to do?


     


    Your first thought might be “Isn’t it all the same?  I network to meet people to help grow my business.” That’s what I thought for a long time. So it was no surprise that I wasn’t very good at it until I found a different way to think about it that made it easier.  Want more success with networking? To do it well, you need to know the 3 different types of networks (Life, Personal, Professional) and the 3 different types of people (Positive people, Allies & Mentors) you need in each.


     


    Have you done this? If you haven’t, it might explain why you haven’t developed your personal networking style. Once you under stand this, you can develop a system of networking that you like, can do over and over again and get faster results. What change are you willing to make need to reach your goals?  Lastly, remember to have fun so you can do it often.
